It means slot 2 can take either card type of SATA or PCI-e which are electrically different.

Around there due to the trace limitations of a laptop vs the desktop boards those sticks were designed for.
That does point more towards memory not waking properly. See if running a single stick of ram makes a difference.
I modded mine to allow mxm-b cards but only got up to the 560m in it before jumping to a larger platform.
