I loved your sticky on the last generation of laptops.
Instead of hijacking a thread, I was wondering if you could offer any wisdom? With the help of this forum I am at two machines - ASUS ROG Zephyrus GM501GS (thunderbolt/1yr warranty) and the MSI GE63(no thunderbolt/2 yr warranty). Both cost the same - I don't know the brands that well (come from Dell/Lenovo). Any thoughts?

The GS63 is a last gen machine. The GE63 can have up to a 1070.

My apologies - I should have clarified. I was referring to the GS63 Stealth 8RE - its the poor step child ;-) of the GS65 - lol.

So essentially that's a bit hard to recommend. It's a 7th gen cpu. A while ago that wouldn't be that bad, but both 8th gen cpus and 10 series gpus are going to be outdated in likely a few months. There could be something better for less we don't know.

I didn't wanna trouble the entire thread with questions on the 120Hz panel so I decided to drop you a message here. Have you noticed any downsides to changing from a 4K panel to a FHD 120Hz display?

The colors are for sure worse. You may be able to use one of the newer 144Hz IPS panels. Idk if it fits.

Hmmm... Guess it would be a wiser option to get an external monitor with a high refresh rate since I was thinking of trading in my 4K panel but that doesn't seem possible. I'll have an extra 4K panel sitting somewhere with no use then.

Hey I am having issues with my current laptop (getting 90-95 degrees or more) while playing. I am thinking of buying a new gaming laptop but I need some help finding one as my budget is pretty small for a gaming laptop.

I'd recommend making a post about it and tagging me or responding to the gaming laptop guide and giving me more info there.

Hi Galm, help!!! I am really scared, just after 15 minutes of playing Doom, the CPU hit 92 degrees and GPU 85 (fans at max)

I do not know maybe it is a bad termal paste?

Seems like a bad paste job. I would probably read my comment left in the thread about contacting HID and running a stress test.
