Thanks guys - ordered 720s :)
Yeah, I the specs are identical, sorry for not mentioning it - both laptops come with the following i7 8550U 256GB NVMe SSD 8GB DDR4 2400 MX150...
Hey y'all. So I'm currently trying to decide on a new 14" laptop. I've narrowed down my choice to these 2. Any thoughts or warnings/PSAs?
I'm currently looking at this laptop with the 8550U and MX150 - are there any issues or caveats I should be aware of? How's performance? THermals?...

Hmmm, what's your ambient temperature? It's also possible that the adapter is overheating and thus supplying less current so as to not set itself...
This is actually something I haven't heard before - the 7577 wasn't really plagued with issues such as this one. You can try undervolting the CPU...
MSI's BIOSes are tuned towards pefromance with no regard as to power efficiency - hence why even their 6-cell battery devices barely get 4 hours...
If you want battery life - look elsewhere. The laptop you are looking at is likely to only live for about 3 hours without being plugged in.
