the sound issue i believe is the sound card, i have that issue with my desktop, although its not really annoying as i just turn off my speakers, so i cant offer a fix unfortunately.
for wifi have you tried multiple SSIDs and routers to make sure its your comp, instead of a wrong key or not being allowed into the network?
you should run the bluetooth programs in a terminal to see the output and see why its not transfering; same with mouse depending on what the issue is. and if your laptop is very new, ubuntu 8.04 does not have the ethernet drivers built in, so you should try 8.10 (its pre-release right now, but even pre-release ubuntu is usually pretty solid.
