Being a 13.3 inch, there will be limitations. Of what I've seen,

    1. Dual core processor instead of quad core
    2. Possibly a crippled GT 555M with 96 pipelines, instead of 144 (therefore being a fast GT 550M instead of a true GT 555M)
    3. Non-removable battery
    4. 5400RPM HDD vs 7200RPM HDD in laptops like the Y470
    5. Optical drive (not much of an issue though)

    Now: Lenovo Y470,Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2630QM (2.00ghz), 8GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HDD, Nvidia GT550M 1GB, $820

Thats the prototype model. Of what I've seen of the production model, the battery is removable. It also comes with an external optical drive like the P300 and P310.

That looks very nice, I like the black look it has going. Seems to be quite thin as well.

Problem is, still no ETA? At this point they'd best wait and release it with Ivy Bridge.

It has to be close now. They'd be nuts to release it beginning of next year with Ivy looming so close. I reckon they'll push to have it out by Christmas, and catch the present buying rush. Well I hope they do...

Wait...isn't this already released in Korea based on the previous posts or did I miss something?

I believe that comment was referring to a US release date.

My bad. Yes USA, heck even Canada. There's always ways to get it from there, but a US release would be preferable. In any case even if it's released late for North America, it is just stupid to release such an awesome machine with "old" tech.

I think this laptop would be suited for people who are very tight on space, or are always travelling abroad. The price is a bit steep for an average university student like me, being $2000 vs $820 (what I paid for my Y470). The screen is definitely impressive if it is truly 1600*900. If it has mini pcie, you could hook up an external graphics card, like I did with a Radeon 5870, although the performance wouldn't be as good as a quad core with external gfx card and the total price might not be worth it.

Resolution is 1366 x 768. The i5 version is only $1200 if you want something cheaper (It has i5, only 4GB of ram and only a HDD rather than the SSD/HDD combo).

I don't think it has a pcie, though this is the wrong laptop if you want an external graphics card. It's if you want everything all in one small and light package.
