Would say thats rather expensive for the units if the given prices are accurate there =s, would just go for a Vaio Z at that point. I thought from earlier sources it was going to be ~1200usd for the UE70k which would have been very reasonable.

Earlier sources where 1200USD for the UE40K (which it is indeed selling for, all the stores I've seen are selling it under MSRP)

And so is the main reason this particular model is getting so much hype is because its focused on "gaming" ?

Gaming is a factor in it, but a number of applications these days can also take advantage of a dedicated GPU for CUDA applications. Also, this is a very thin notebook for the overall performance, exceeding most other units on the market for what is crammed into such a thin and light package, that it appeals to everyone who does not want to go the macbook air route and find some of the other ultrabook offerings lacking for certain features.

+1 There are a number of business applications that require a dedicated GPU. Many of us have departed from the typical route of getting a standard business unit due to the desire to have portable power to undertake our work wherever we are. I rarely load a game onto my Acer 3820TG but use the GPU daily. It is the power and portability that also makes the LG look so attractive.

So you're considering this one Bronsky? I remember you being all hyped over the 3820tg and let down by the 3830tg. This computer here would patch up the one flaw of the 3820tg -- the screen. And this newer i7 version is probably as strong if not stronger than your overclocked last gen i5. I guess it would come down to how well this thing handles heat.

The 3830TG is a train wreck. As much as I love my 3820TG, at some point I will have to replace it. The LG is in contention. (I'm also keeping an eye on the Lenovo X2 Ivybridge refresh but will need an external GPU solution.) The cooling on the P310 was acceptable and, if the P330 has a dual fan cooling system, it should be more than adequate. I have yet to encounter anything that my Acer's cooling can't handle.

This laptop looks interesting, especially with the 13.3 inch screen and the GT 555M.

Unfortunately it doesn't have a removable battery and the processor isn't the greatest (dual core vs quad core like the i7 2630QM)

I actually now think that 14 inch screen is ideal for my eyes, after owning a Dell XPS M1330, vs my current Lenovo Y470.
    Previous: Dell XPS M1330, Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.00ghz), 4GB RAM, 250GB 5400rpm HDD, onboard Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS 128MB, external ATI Radeon 5870 1GB VRAM, $1200

    Now: Lenovo Y470,Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2630QM (2.00ghz), 8GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HDD, Nvidia GT550M 1GB, $820

    Desktop: SUN Ultra 40 Workstation,Dual Core AMD Opteron 2222 (3.00 ghz), 16GB RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate, 250GB 7200 RPM HDD, 1920*1080 Monitor, ATI Radeon 5870 1GB / Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 768MB VRAM, Free

Yeah, I guess Ivy will bring a couple options, I forgot about it for a second. I couldn't imagine anything having cooling as good as the 3820TG. But with smaller chips, will you actually need it?

Where did you see it doesn't have a removable battery?
