Can you please post the specs you're considering? The T410 may be cheaper, but the Intel processor and graphics card inside are inferior to the T420. Also, are you purchasing these in used condition, I don't know that the T410 is sold new anymore these days.

Moving this thread to the Lenovo forum from What Should I Buy where the help is more targeted to the brand.

Here's a quick and dirty rundown of the major diffs-

The T410 was the last of the line to have a 16:10 aspect ratio. It came with a 14.1 display with 1280x800 or 1440x900 resolution.
First generation Intel Core i processors were used
512mb NVIDIA NVS 3100M discrete graphics optional
    13.2" x 9.4" x 1.1-1.3"
    6-cell- 5.0lbs
    High Elasticity Polycarbonate top
    Carbon-fiber Reinforced Plastic bottom

The T420 made the switch to the now ubiquitous 16:9 aspect ratio. 14.0" displays were available in either 1366x768 or 1600x900 resolution.
2nd-gen Core i processors & Intel HD 3000 graphics standard
Optional 1GB NVIDIA NVS 4200M discrete graphics
    13.4" x 9.17" x 1.18-1.20"
    6-cell- 4.84lbs
    Carbon-fiber/Glass-fiber hybrid display cover
    Carbon-fiber Reinforced Plastic bottom

Also T410 uses slim ultrabay while the T420/430 use the standard ultrabay. I have to say I love T410's 16:10 screen.

I don't think aspect ratio is such a huge difference here, the high resolution panel doesn't result in a loss of vertical pixels. Also T410 has Arrandale CPU's which have horrid load wattage, while Sandy Bridge will be much better on battery than Arrandale.

You should consider a new T430 for only about $700 + $51 tax as the one in my signature, when it was on sale throught B&N gold membership.
