Re: ThinkPad X1, X230, X230t, T430, T430s, T530, W530, L430, L530 Official
Yesterday, I tweaked out this order, which I was quite pleased with until I was hit with the sales tax:
ThinkPad W530 - 1 Year
Depot Warranty
Estimated ship
date: 6/11/12**
$2,645.00
$1,709.00
$2,645.00
Total without Tax: $1,281.75
Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor (6MB L3, 2.30GHz)
Operating system Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
15.6" FHD (1900 x 1080) LED Backlit AntiGlare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready

4 GB PC3-12800 DDR3 (1 DIMM)
Keyboard Keyboard - US English

Power cord 170W Slim AC Adapter - US (2pin)
Bluetooth 4.0 with Antenna
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN

I decided on Home Premium, because I'm just going to install my own Enterprise version of Win 7. Coming from a 1920 x 1200 screen, I don't know how I'm going to fare with this newfangled 1900 x 1080.
And though I've never used a ThinkPad, I was definitely turned off by the new chiclets. But after some review of the entire matter, and after using my mother's Sony that has a chiclet KB, I realized I might actually really like that new keyboard. For one, I'm assuming that Lenovo does KB's better than Sony. So, we'll see. If it works out, we'll be saying, "If it ain't broke, maybe we can make it better." I hope so.
Anyway, now I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestion for finding the proper RAM at a good price, and ALSO for getting a DVD recordable drive and extra HDD caddy for that bay?

Re: ThinkPad X1, X230, X230t, T430, T430s, T530, W530, L430, L530 Official
I feel like I'm looking in the wrong place, because everything on the Lenovo website for the T430s and T430 is much more expensive than the quotes I see in this thread. Heck, neither of the default T430s options even starts under $1000.

Interesting. I was just chatting with one rep and once I told him that I cannot find my order status, he asked me did you get a cancellation e-mail?!! I said what, why would I get one?
I just closed the conversation as he does not know what he is talking about.
I do not like it that some big companies cannot still handle launches after all these ages in this business!

Re: ThinkPad X1, X230, X230t, T430, T430s, T530, W530, L430, L530 Official
Yeah, I didn't have any intention of ordering a W530 yesterday. I was actually waiting for the prices of W520's on ebay to start falling.
But, ever the optimist (no, not really), I was looking through a thread and saw that someone was saying that they went through Mastercard Marketplace. Also, I'm not necessarily advising this next step, but I realized that they're charging 120 for a DVD-recordable drive. Which is heinous...I think...I'm not sure. but I'll take the chance. So, I added RAID and then removed RAID. This gave me a 320gb 5400 rpm drive (which isn't even offered) and no optical. I upped the HDD to 7200 for like 40, and left out the optical, because I'm hoping to get it more reasonably elsewhere. Also, try playing around with the color sensor options. You can get a little bit off on one of those. And the ultra nav without...ahh...play with all the radio buttons and see what happens. I fooled around with it for a good four hours to tweak it. I wanted to tell people I got the whole thing with the k2000m for less than 1300. But Sales tax screwed that up. Anyway, play with ALL of the radio buttons for ALL of the options and see what they take off or add.
Best of luck.

A representative from Lenovo today told me there are docking stations with USB 3.0 that will be released later. Do you know if this is true? Also, I do not find any of the converters of mini-display to VGA or DVI
