This was my big gripe with the X201T Outdoor Viewable Display. No Multitouch on the 400 Nits display. The I5 SB CPU and HD 3000 GPU is perfect for a convertible tablet. Hopefully the refreshed Elitebook 'vert will have an outdoor display with multitouch.

Nice to see the X220's starting to arrive. Congratulations to all of you. It looks like the best non-dedicated GPU notebook on the market ATM. Eager to read your reviews.

    @ZaZ
The features I like best in comparison to my T42 are the faster application and boot times, and the quite a bit longer battery life. The SD card slot is a nice addition for transferring photos from my digital camera's memory card.

What is your boot up time, and how snappy or lack there of for opening programs, browser, etc ?

    Thank you
I posted this in another thread yesterday...

On my new X220 it takes about 28 seconds from pressing the power on button to the login screen. It takes me about 7 seconds to type in my password. 35 seconds to this point.

Then I have the desktop at 40 seconds and WiFi internet connected at 50 seconds from power on.

I have done nothing to trim the Lenovo original install. I have Windows 7 fully updated and other programs installed.

Pretty sure they're both 300 nits.

Does anyone have an est ship date before the second week in May, mine is 5/16? Even if they ship a week earlier than expected that's a over two weeks from now. I think I may pick up a cheap Thinkpad from craigslist for the interim.

Hey guys, I ordered my first IBM/Lenovo laptop. I've owned all sorts of laptops. Through my experience, my biggest concern is motherboard noise (as opposed to fan or hard drive noise). I'm sure you're all familiar with that high frequency sound that can only be heard in a very quiet room, usually less apparent when voltage is coming through a power cord vs. the battery.

Apple laptops seem to do a much better job at silencing this. Perhaps due to their aluminum casing (?), though I have no idea. Can anyone chime in on their experience with lenovo laptops and circuit board noise?

My estimated ship date is May 9th, so early 2nd week.

My est. ship date after ordering via our company is 5/13.

The rep actually told me that it would be earlier than that, and that the ship dates are currently "a little out of whack" on these.

    Hopefully so!

When do they typically assign serial numbers?

My x120e certainly makes this noise so I wouldn't at all be surprised if the x220 had it. With my hearing (don't know how good or bad it is, I'm 21 so I guess it must be alright but I have trouble understanding whispers) I can hear it from a foot and a half away in a silent environment when it's in sleep mode. Don't hear it when the laptop is on though because the fan suppresses the noise (fan is pretty quiet). My current early 2010 iMac as well. I don't think my early 2009 Macbook Pro had this problem.

Overall not as bad as the iMac. That thing drove me absolutely nuts when I first got it but got used to it over time

you'll see a serial number in your order the day after the shipment has been created.   the unit's serial is scanned at the same time as the shipping label.
