you need to download the cd iso. Then use a free program like imgburn and burn the iso file. Do not update the bios via windows it will sometimes crash

Thank for your solution. I had new experience. Just only use iso file to upgrade bios for r61

It looks like with BIOS 2.30, you also need to update your sound card drivers as it adds the following:

•[Important] Supported both for Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Vista.
•(New) Added the support for AD1984A of audio CODEC. The supported BIOS is needed.
Supported model: ThinkPad T61 (attached AD1984A audio CODEC)
Supported BIOS : 2.30(7LETD0WW) or later

Middleton, any way we can persuade you to update the BIOS to 2.30 as stated in my previous post?

    Thank you very VERY much.

My English is not good, so I prefer to ask also.

If I install the modified BIOS that I can put to my X300 everyone WWAN (HSDPA modem) ? So example: Gobi 2000, Dell 5540 etc?

Yes. The whitelist mod should also be included in middleton's BIOS.

    Hi,

I have a question about the BIOS for X61T.

In the table that lists all BIOSes, X61 BIOS has two versions: one for the XGA screen and one for the SXGA+ screen. Is the same true for X61T? (if yes, is the X61T BIOS version for XGA screen or for SXGA+ screen). I happen to have the SXGA+ and I'm not sure, if everything will work correctly if I flash middleton's BIOS into the laptop.

Use the one specifically for the X61 Tablet as noted.

    Hej,

    I have a X61 Tablet with a SXGA+ screen and Windows 7 64-bit version.

    On page 42 middelton said:

The updated package (version 2.21-1.03) you're talking about is for X61/X61s SXGA+ ONLY. This BIOS is not intended for X61 Tablet.

You wrote: "I have an X61 Tablet with SXGA+ screen (IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet 7764-CTO)".
If it's true, then you should flash X61 Tablet BIOS (version 1.24-1.02). Please check everything carefully once again because X61/X61s SXGA+ ISO BIOS update doesn't check machine type. If you flash this BIOS into your X61 Tablet, you'll get a bricked laptop.
Now I am confused which version I sould use ... Perhaps somebody can clarify it!

Another question regards the way of updating the bios. I do not have a docking-station for my X61t, though I do not have a CD slot.
What is the simples method to update the bios anyway? Is there a possibility to create a bootable USB Stick to flash the BIOS?
Another method which comes to my mind would be to create a new partition on the harddrive and install a windows 32-bit version on that from which I could start the winuptp.exe. Would that be possible too?

    Thanks for your answers!

My apologies, I stand corrected. Please use the X61 Tablet specified version. It would appear that Lenovo had packaged the X61 Tablet BIOS in one package, even though there were 3 different screen variants - one of them being an SXGA+.

Hello! I have a strange situation with BIOS update. Process update successful, but nothing changed.
I used BIOS for t61, update with CD, version CNTRL-FN #2
Process startted with: "Updated embedded controller", takes approx. 2 minutes, then long "beep", and appeared "EC flash completed. Rebut your machine now"
Unfortunately nothing changes and I see Error 1802-unauthorized network card
In th BIOS I see the version 2.27 - 1.08
    Laptop 14,1 wide, T61 part.num 7661-CTO
Does anybody had the same issue? How it could be that BIOS updated but white list does not disabled?
P.S. other versions of modified bios T61 does not accepted. Only #2 flashed well.
