T400 - Beeping sound??

Does anyone else get a beeping sound coming from their T400? I hear THREE consecutive beeps (very faint) every 5 seconds or so. My room is completely silent though and I can hear everything, including the hard drive. Just wondering if anyone knows what this sound is?

is the laptop heating up? it can be the harddisk... btw what kinda beeps are they? Do they sound like proper beeps or really faint sounds which _can_ be beeps?

not sure but may be loose connections ..make sure the hardisk and RAM are properly fixed

I think there is a different answer to your question.

Where does it come from? Is it where the F1 button is seated.

Then your TP will suffer from so called cpu whine, most it comes up, when your
TP is running on battery.

You can disable it by go into Bios and disable speedstepping of your cpu.

wow, even during a fresh windows install it's still beeping.... actually when you get closer it sounds like a squeeky wheel... like something is rotating inside.

Where do you locate the beep?

Beep is located on the right side, near the optical drive. I'd say near the corner of the optical drive and the LCD.

Does it change when you dimm your lcd?

Strange, it doesn´t seem either a cpu whine nor a coil problem or your hdd.

What is located there, your usb connections?
Are you using an external mouse?
