    You're very welcome.

It shouldn't be slow at all. There could be a number of reasons why it's slow but it's most probable that it has to do with the amount of RAM you have installed on your system. I believe 1GB is the practical minimum while 2GB is the recommended by experienced users.

My T61 is 1g of RAM, T7300. Xp is heaps faster than Vista on my machine. clean Xp does help!

By the way, I'm not able to watch DVD, because Dvd code is not installed. It comes with Windvd. where did you get it installed? from the recovery disc? or downloaded?

I have two slight problems with my clean XP install (on my X61s):

    1. I can't get the Intel Matrix Storage Manager to install. I've already installed all the other drivers that I need, but when I try to install this I get a message saying: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software. Setup Will Exit."

    2. My trackpoint does not work correctly. Well, it works correctly for the first few seconds after I log on, but then the middle scroll functionality no longer works until I manually go into the TRACKPT.V32 driver folder and run the tp4serv daemon. I have no idea how to fix it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re 1. F1 enter bios, enable AHCI. Then you can install

Arkit3kt :"Once you download the Intel Matrix Storage Manage Driver, go into start>run then browse for C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM\PREPARE. In that folder there should a file called "install" (without quotes). Run that file. Then restart. On that restart, hit F1 at that first thinkpad logo screen and it'll go into BIOS. Here, hit the F9 key to restore everything to default. Then hit F10 to save and exit. The computer will restart again. At the desktop, it will detect new hardware.

The Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard appears.
    Click Next.
Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended), and then click Next.
Select Specify a location, then click Next.
Specify the path, C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM, and click OK. The Driver Files Search Results window appears.
Click Next. The Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard appears.
    Click Finish.
When the System Settings Change window appears, click Yes. The computer restarts.

And that's all there is to it."

Ah, thanks much, got that driver working.

It's weird, when I first boot the TrackPoint tab isn't available in the mouse settings in the control panel, but as soon as I run C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TRACKPT.V32\tp4serv.exe it magically appears. Is there any way I can make it autorun?

Did you backup the 'SWTOOLS' folder before you performed the clean install? If so, it should be in there in the 'Apps' folder. And in that folder should be another folder called DVDPlay. Just run the setup.exe in that folder and it should work. If you did not backup the 'SWTOOLS' folder, let me know and I'll send you mine.

Once installed, there's also an update for the software found here : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-54371

Before you perform the steps below. Make sure you installed the right driver. I believe it is this one for your X61s: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-66893

The instructions to install are here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...-66893#install

But yes there is a way to make it autorun. Right click on tp4serv.exe and send it to your desktop (create shortcut). Now minimize all windows and right click on that shortcut file you have just created. Now select cut. The icon should be see-through now.

Right click on your start menu and open all users. Open the programs folder then navigate into the folder named Startup. Now edit and paste. Now check your desktop, the shortcut icon should be gone and into that Startup folder. Now everytime you bootup your system, Windows will have started that file for you.

    Thanks for using my guide.
