Re: How much did you pay for your Thinkpad? Past and Present
I paid close to $1,700.00 USD for my Thinkpad T61. Specs are:
15.4" Lenovo T61P (/w Vista Ultimate)
Intel Santa Rosa T7300
Nvidia Quadro FX 570M
2GB of RAM
160 GB 7200 RPM HD
This is with the anniversary discounts and a college student discount.
This is my first Thinkpad, or even Lenovo branded Laptop as a matter of fact. I don't plan on it being my last though judging by the workmanship.Certifications Acquired: A+, Network+, Security+, MCITP: Server Administrator
Certifications In Progress: CISSP
Current Position: Windows System Administrator

Re: How much did you pay for your Thinkpad? Past and Present
Past ThinkPads were much more expensive than current ThinkPads. I remember seeing a decently configured T40 for $2,000.

The X40 that I got for work many years ago, cost my employer the equivelant of 5,000 USD. This was in Europe where prices are generally much higher than in the US.

Re: How much did you pay for your Thinkpad? Past and Present
My first ThinkPad came with Windows 3.1. I don't remember the model off the top of my head--I think it was a 486. I paid about $2400 or $2500 for it.
There was a P133 in my life, but It might have been the Satellite I bought (because it had the Accu-point).
One of my later models was the TP 765L P166MMX 3GB 32MB 13.3TFT Win95 Value with ship date of 07/01/98. That's directly from the "Order Packer" that I saved here in my computer file. No price is shown.
But I do have a note from the research I did for my next ThinkPad, a 770, showing that CompUSA wanted $2730 for one with no CD or modem.
Need to look up my R30 and two T30's. I bought the R30 CTO, 1 T30 rebuilt, used it a long time--slipped on ice and landed on it, broke its latch and bezel so it wouldn't close and bought the second T30 used so I could switch hard drives.
My latest ThinkPad is an X61, Core2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz), with 3GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 8 cell battery, TP 802.11abg, SD Card reader, Fingerprint reader, Bluetooth and XP Pro... think I paid about $1550. I bought a Lenovo USB Super Multiburner w/Lightscribe to go with it for about $250.Last edited by alwaysthinkin; 12th October 2007 at 03:03 AM. Reason: Thought of the P133 and the Satellite. And the R&T30's.
