Well Mark, it actually sounds like you might be under 16. I'm sorry for the damage to your laptop. Did you purchase any insurance when you shipped it? I don't think you ever did mention who you used to ship it. Often times, private shippers will allow claims on damaged goods even if it is not insured. I would also have your dad to all the talking. Nobody will take a young teenager seriously or believe what they have to say. I tell my kids the same thing...Mow some lawns, ask neighbors if they need any errands or chores to be done to earn money. Ask your parents the same thing and earn some extra allowance. You might be surprised at how much you can earn.

As far as the rest of you and you know who you are...

I am ashamed that you would treat a young kid like this. It is apparent he is too young to even get a normal job. He was wrong to ask for money here, but that doesn't mean he should be chastised for it. Give the kid a break, correct him and offer sound advice! More than likely, he comes on here to find the knowledge base that you all have to offer. Instead, he gets slammed. Shame on you.

It may be possible to get accidental damage coverage on this still. It isn't exactly the most honest way about it, though.
