And second of all, our little heated disscussion has nothing to DO with ****ING reps, reps only concern computer knowledge, experience, and has nothing to do with morals, philosophy, etc.

Playmaker has more reps, and if we were talking about computer stuff, he would one-up me, but this has nothing to do with technology....

I think TPA might have said it as sarcasm. I also agree, this has nothing to do with Lenovo. Lenovo would happily ship him back his laptop without fixing the screen so it's not like they're holding it hostage. There's nothing that can be said against Lenovo in that regard.

I don't agree with Playmaker's stance of letting it be and if you don't like it don't donate. It is board member's jobs to discourage behavior that isn't conductive to the forum. Asking for money because the OP didn't get insurance is certainly not something I would encourage. Like I said, he needs to accept that other people wont just solve his money problems. It's a good lesson, and I feel some people think they can come to the internet with their money problems and people will fix them.

That leads to paradoxer's and fluxion's point which is that this is not a worthy cause. This teenager doesn't sound impoverished and why should we help him; just because he can come on the internet, create a web page and ask for money? It sounds like the OP is far from helpless. There are other people who are far far more deserving than the OP and I think that was the point.

To wrap it up, I think the OP's parents should step up to the plate and help him out. If I were his parents I would absorb the cost and talk to him about getting insurance in the first place. Either that or give him an interest free loan to be paid off whenever he is able to. Or make him do chores/shopping to make up for it. It's not unreasonable considering that his parents paid for the laptop in the first place. The OP should learn that stuff happens and this is why they invented insurance and that sometimes there is no easy fix.

Did I miss anything? I'm not sure what else needs to be said.

Seriously though, the link above explains it all. It's a pat on the shoulder and user seriousness/reliability thing. Unfortunately some users might have a lot of Rep Power and might have posted a lot, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they conduct themselves in a respectful manner.

Mr Johnny Playmaker was knowledgeable and helped many people including me but he lacked tact, and common decency.

Apart from this thread's most interesting discussion of morals and ethics, it also illuminates, thanks of JaJa, the subject of reps, colored bars, and so forth, none of which made sense to me before. So, thank ya kindly on that score.

As for the OP's non-rebuttal (and eagerness to close the thread) I think (his) silence is golden at this point.

It was fun and necessary to see some sarcasm thorugh the posts.

I think that some people here learned things, or at least, they have something to think about. It would be sad otherwise.

I hope that this post will be the last nail in the coffin so we can bury it.
