Re: Save My Laptop
Yes, so shame on you too, paradoxer. You deride the OP on grounds of moral priority- why don't you just ignore him and go help the starving people in third-world countries already? You marginalize the suffering with your meaningless discourse. Actions speak louder than words.
He has no reps to offer.

Re: Save My Laptop
hmmm. well, at least one lesson learned, DO only send things by certified mail with insurance. I put 3,000.00 insurance on my laptop back to Lenovo on return. It only cost something like 22.00. Definitely worth it for peace of mind.

Re: Save My Laptop
Who the HELL are you to judge me like that?
When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you feel like a God or what?
Actually, I donate some money to DIFFERENT organizations EVERY year. My mother worked for the Red Cross for 14 years. Yes, my small contribution is not so much, but it is at least SOMETHING.
And what have you done for the world? Now, tell me again, what did you mean by "Actions speak louder than words"??
Pfffff...
Oh, I forgot; your highness, why didnīt you ignore MY post since you know how handle such BS in this forum?
Can someone close this thread please? This is pretty much off the topic.

Re: Save My Laptop
damn people calm down... first playmaker, you are way out of line, im sure paradoxer was only giving a suggestion/ healthy advice and i agree that the OP should not beg for money. He should earn it himself. There was nothing that Paradox said that was "deriding."
yea close the thread

Re: Save My Laptop
What's with the lame "Save My Laptop" site? It's not even like you spent much on your laptop lol. I find it a little melodramatic. Plenty of people have had problems but they don't create blogs about it. Maybe I should sign the guestbook eh?
I have to agree with paradoxer, it's bad taste and wrong to come on here and ask for donations. I resent the special treatment the OP feels he's entitled to through his coy post. The OP needs to learn his lesson: if it's important, ship with insurance.
Before my freshman year of college I shipped a desktop computer to my out of state school. I had speakers, monitor, and computer all shipped without insurance. The computer was beat so hard in transit that the processor and HSF jumped out of the socket flattening the pins and rendering a $700 processor useless. My 15k 74GB Raptor was also dead. My video card was jolted so hard that it broke out of its PCIe socket and was bouncing around inside the case. I spent 2000 on the computer a couple months before and it was completely destroyed in shipment. The monitor was also beat up, but didn't crack. Instead it developed lines of dead pixels. The speakers made it though find though. I ended up selling the entire system for salvage and went with a laptop instead. By the way USPS was the shipper who destroyed my computer and it was sent via USPS 2-3 day priority but took 8 days (they needed extra time to play soccer with it). In reality I have no idea how it got so messed up in transit.
Thinking about my experience, I find it distasteful that the OP would come on here with such a petty problem asking for donations. You need to take responsibility for your mistakes and stop asking other people to make up for them. Since you're only 16, consider this an early life lesson for later adulthood. OP, you learned your lesson, ship with insurance. I do now.Last edited by xnviews; 12th August 2007 at 11:21 PM.

Re: Save My Laptop
There are 3 rules when dealing with playmaker.
1. He is always right, and therefore is entitled to be derisive.
2. If he is wrong, he has better rep than you and has therefore contributed more, which makes him entitled to continue being derisive.
3. If you have more rep than playmaker see rule number 1

Re: Save My Laptop
I would also say that people shouldn't donate because the OP needs to learn to take responsibility for his own actions. People on the internet are not going to fix your problems. You should not expect them to do so. You might have been inspired by other people who were able to get donations over the internet. Many of those people had a worthy cause which yours is not. As it stands, this is your problem and you need to fix it off of the internet and this forum.

Re: Save My Laptop
Total blashpemy, to the point that im laughing on the ground.
What are you? his slave, his royal highness? I only gave out my opinion, if you believe paradox is wrong, and playmaker is right, then so be it. Give your opinion and let it be. But your post, if its not a absolute JOKE, does not make any sense and attacks me for giving an opinon. For the love of god, please tell me that you are joking.
And second of all, our little heated disscussion has nothing to DO with ****ING reps, reps only concern computer knowledge, experience, and has nothing to do with morals, philosophy, etc.
Playmaker has more reps, and if we were talking about computer stuff, he would one-up me, but this has nothing to do with technology....

Re: Save My Laptop
I think attacking each other doesn't help anyone and I agree with Kerb that shipping insurance is for preventing these kind of problems .
and I think Stewie is right reps has nothing to do with anything else and as all of us can see how some people like Stallen, Playmaker and .... took their time and with help of their knowledge and experience made very useful threads that benefits all of us and i am sure REPs are for these reasons to thank them and help newbie to know who is guiding them and their knowledge . Lets keep our forum clean and full of respect as you all know this is one of the best websites that other sites refer to us and I knwo some people who joined us recently that have no rep yet but they are full of experience and knowledgeDesktop:Q6600 GO Overclocked to 3.60 Ghz stable /XP Pro-Vista Ultimate 32bit/Asus Maximus Formula Special Edition/two Seagate 320GB HDD/4 GB Crucial Ballistic PC28500-1066 /EVGA Nvidia 8800 GTS-640/Antec P180b/Freezone cooling #3DMark06: 14888
