I've been looking at it too. For what it's worth, they appear to have dropped the price by $170 today to $599. I read the Ideapad U400 review - which should be pretty close to the U410 - here at this site.

theyve dropped the price of the u400 to 599 for half a month now, they just keep using different "promotion codes"

I don't know what your budget is, but for $870 I think I'd look to buy an ENVY Spectre XT or Dell XPS 13 for $999 (less with a student discount or coupon, both can be had with a free XBox 360 for example) and get an SSD for the faster performance and lighter weight of around 3lbs. The HP ENVY 4t-1000 should also be about the same as the Lenovo U410 and I think can be had for cheaper than $870, and again with a free xbox if you so choose.

I don't know, just not enamored with any of these budget Ultrabooks. I'll be getting the U310 soon to review and might offer more thoughts based on that as it will be very similar to the U410, just smaller.

i was told that the u410's 610m nvidea card is as bad as the intel 4000, so realistically the performance should be the same with the u310?

Actually, the Intel 4000 (New with Ivy bridge) is really not half bad. It's worlds better than the 3000 that everyone has now. At least twice as powerful. So that makes the 610m nVidia sound a lot better.

That said... I would say at $599 it's a great deal, but at $799... save your money and get an actual Ultrabook with SSD and more slim design.

Speaking of the U310, here's a review that might interest OP (U310 and U410 are pretty much the same, sans display size).

Ha, nice review that guy wrote there

It doesn't seem like there's a ton of interest in the U310 / U410 on NBR right now. Curious to see if that changes in the future as Lenovo starts to market it more.

Hi all, first time poster so go easy on me

I wrote a review on Amazon UK if you're interested, and if you want any questions answered just let me know.

I have a small issue at the moment whereby the nVidia control panel tells me there's newer drivers, but when I download and try and install them it tells me no suitable hardware was found.

I also want to figure out why Lenovo chose to add the nVidia 610m to this laptop since from everything I've read it's on par with the Intel HD 4000 iGPU.
