Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Just got quoted it for $854.10 USD plus tax from my lenovo sales rep. Anyone get any lower?
Will probably be ordering it today and shipping it to my US mailing address across the border. I live in Vancouver
So yea I'm assuming its going to be pretty much the same as the y460p but just with better graphics and some other stuff.
Heres the product page.
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/c...81388519B2B09A
I got the i5 14" model with no blue ray.
Please delete/lock this if this thread is considered irrelevant as the y470 is similar to the y460p.
EDIT: 06/04/2011
My order failed on me and got cancelled. I called and it turns out that it was because they don't ship to freight forwarding services. I decided to try something and pay via amazon, because I thought maybe having the payments and stuff routed through amazon they would slip up and ship it. Turns out they did. My y470 was originally 949 but i got a 854 quote from the rep, but since that cancelled on me I ordered it again and the base price dropped to 850 and I found a 10% off coupon and paid 760 ish. Most people in this thread seem to have gotten better deals, but hey, I just want it shipped. I don't do anything that requires an i7, and i3's are too low-end for me...and i dislike high prices and taxes for us Canadians (Ugh that ing HST.) so for me it was a good deal
Keep posting your deals everyone! I'll write up a thorough review if I feel like it when I get my laptop, which should be in a week or so now that it's shipped.
Lets discuss modifications now!!! Any way to get a backlit keyboard on this thang? Or change the back cover? I don't know how dark it is, but if its black I can live with it...if its like brown...I might want a skin or something.....Also, I hate that orange stripe that goes around, would it be a viable option to color it black with a permaneant marker? :3 or does anyone here who's more tech savvy have any better ideas? ALSO, how would we go about installing an SSD where the optical drive is? I personally have no use for a disk drive. I think I'd need a bracket of some sort for the hole where the disk drive used to be....but where can I get one, and are all brackets universal? I'll update the OP with new information from the thread when I have time, to help people out~

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
Seems like a good deal to me. I would include the y570 as well due to the lack of non-Thinkpad posts on here. (There is literally one post a week about a non-Thinkpad.)

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
do you know what the difference between the 085524U and the 085523U is? The only noticable difference i see is a BluRay Drive and a larger 750GB 5400rpm hdd (vs 500gb @ 7200)..
If thats the case.. how can they possibly charge 300$ MORE for just a bluray drive and 250GB more at a lower RPM. What a rip off...Last edited by unkk33; 10th May 2011 at 11:17 PM.

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
I do not have a US mailing address so I'm still waiting for Lenovo to release the Y570 in Canada.

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
Hey look, I found the Y470 owner's thread. I made one since I couldn't seem to get the forum search to return anything. But now that I found this (Google FTW) I'll go delete mine and move over here.

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
I ordered my Y570 on Monday when they were doing the 48hr sale. Anyone else order or receive one of these yet? I'm interested in impressions and pictures.
Specs:

Processor: 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3-2310M Processor ( 2.10GHz 1333MHz 3MB ) would have loved to get the i5 but didn't want to spend +$110
Operating system: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB
Total memory8: 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
Display: 15.6" HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768
Pointing device: Industry Standard Touchpad
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200
Optical Drive: DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
Battery: 6 Cell Lithium-Ion
Network Card: Intel 1000 BGN Wireless
Bluetooth: Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR

$699 before tax, listed as free shipping but it charged me $10. I chatted with someone at Lenovo and they told me to contact them after I received it and they would credit me the $10 back.

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
Hi all,
I just got quoted $974.25 Canadian from Lenovo Canada for the i7 8GB 500GB version non Blu-ray Y570. I initially wanted the i5 version but it's not available in Canada so I went ahead with the i7 version. So basically, I'm paying $165 more from the US $809.25 (i5 promotion) for a i7 and 4GB more ram DDR3-1600 as opose to DDR3-1333 on the i5. I think I'm happy.

Re: Lenovo Y470 Official Owners Thread
Looking at the Y470 (14"), I haven't seen any reviews yet for this laptop, but the specs look good.
Has anyone gotten it yet, how do the owners like it so far?
Is there any information so far about the heat, noise and battery life?
Finally, is the HDD accessible? I'd want to put in an SSD.
Thanks!
