Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Hey guys, just wanted to give you guys an update.
I called UPS yesterday and got my Y470 today.
First impressions...:
The bottom is very plasticy... although no keyboard flex at all. Keyboard area is solid, but there are two parts on the keyboard area where I keep getting "clicks" because the fit is not perfect.
I wish it had the book style design of the U series, which are very solidly built.
Lots of bloatware, but I kept some of the Lenovo stuff.
Screen is pretty nice although not 1080P (yes, I already knew that before buying). The plastic around the screen can be pried apart, but I don't know why anyone would that. I guess if the laptop is dropped, the first thing to go will be around the screen.
Has a nice weight to it, not too heavy, not too light.
Battery life is around 4-4.5 hours with the GT 550M and high performance stuff on and around 6-8 hours with normal use.
Speakers are amazing for a laptop.
For some reason the GT 550M is not getting recognized by the Nvidia driver update software so I'm stuck the older Lenovo provided drivers for now. Also, the windows experience index is not recognizing the GPU either so it got a "5.9" for the graphics score.
It comes with a unusually ginormous power brick.
Overall, I'm pretty happy although I expected it to be a little more "tough" and well built from all the user "reviews." Maybe I'm just spoiled from my previous thinkpads...Last edited by lepenseur; 2nd July 2011 at 10:23 AM.

@ Eunkipark92
Should be able to play GTAIV fluidly however, GTAIV like ram so an upgrade to 8GB would help.
@ liner
4 hours of gaming on a 6-cell unheard of, I think he meant high performance Window power profile.
