Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Got my laptop last week or so and this is one of the best products out yet. Truly recommend Lenovo over Apple or Sony. I got the Y470 model and I'm loving every single bit of it. My only complaint is the optical drive which is the good ol' fashioned flimsy disk drive that almost has no durability what-so-ever and the screen hinges are also somewhat weak as well.
Now I've got a question, because I ran into something and I'm not sure what. Whenever I open or close the disk drive, it gives off a sound for one second. It sounds "natural" but I'm just wondering if that sound is supposed to be there or not. And in addition, I also hear this sound when I boot up my laptop. Just trying to make sure that my laptop isn't undergoing some problems.
And I can't help but notice a slight opening on the sides of the screen hinges--which reveal a part of the wire connecting to the screen. Does anyone else see what I'm seeing? It's not a big problem but it is bothering me somehow...

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Hi I fixed the problem for the Battlefield 3 Stutter/Glitch. Especially when the power cord is plugged in.
Lenovo Ideapad y570
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM Processor ( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB )
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB
8 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
15.6" HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768
750GB 5400 HDD
1.First Off Is I made Sure I deleted all the bloatware and Defrag my comp using CCleaner and Smart Defrag v 2.2
2.Second is I Uninstalled the Power Management (Lenovo) and Tried it that way. I found out that didn't really help but when i did uninstall it my drivers said i had a unknown driver ACPI? Well that's the AC Power Management Drivers so i re-installed it. I then messed with a few settings and notice that on default it stays at Energy Saving
Click the Second one ***High Performance***

By dontkillkenny14 at 2011-12-30
and then go into the Settings
Then go to Smart Power-Saving and Uncheck the first box

After you get that done i recommend restarting the comp. but up to you.
3. Unpack your CPU. on default for Windows 7 for some reason you computer uses only half of your cores. So lets use them all especially since you paid for them all. Here is the link to do it.
Disable CPU Core Parking For Multi-Core Processors | Faster 7 Episode 20 - YouTube
4. Reinstall the Nvidia 285.62 Graphics Driver From the Lenovo Website. And Restarted the comp again.
5. I Downloaded the MSI AfterBurner 220 beta 9 and installed it.
Created 2 Settings one at stock and second at
Core Clock (MHz) 900
Shader Clock (Mhz) 1800
Memory Clock (MHz) 1750
(Some Say overclocking helped for me it didn’t so there you go)
I turn these settings on sometimes but i found it that it will play at default settings. but if you want to overclock your settings you can Just remember that your Laptop with be hotter. 80C at default and almost to 87C at overclocked settings. The FPS i get is around 30-40. 60-80 in Jets i dont know why but thats what it is.
After i changed the settings i restarted the comp. ( yes it is annoying but it does help)
K this time I checked the Power management for Windows and Lenovo both on (High Performance)
Then i Checked my Cores
Then i Check the FPS/ After burner
Then I Check and usually just leave the Button Switch for GPU on.
Then I Check the Game Settings
Hopefully this works for you

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Hello everyone... I just ordered a Y470 I5 4GB 500GB HDD a few days ago. It should arrive soon. After reading well over 100 pages of this forum, I have a short list of "What-To-Dos" when it does arrive. If any of you would like to add to my list due to your personal experiences, please feel free to.
Here is my list:
- Update/upgrade any drivers listed on the Lenovo Downloads page.
- Update BIOS from Lenovo Downloads page. (suggestions on version)
- Create backup DVDs.
I do appreciate all those who posted useful information over the past few months. You made my choice of which machine to purchase quite easy.
Happy New Year to you all.

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Thanks Peter.
I don't think I'm going this route. I've been looking at the 6250 WiMax card, and I just wanted to know if the 6205 card worked. It's good to know.
Does your Bluetooth still work? At the Intel wireless site, they don't have an "X" next to the Bluetooth column on the 6205.

Aquulei,
You can check at the Y470 download page, but all of those drivers will be older then the ones you will receive installed in your new machine. Likewise, you should have BIOS of 47CN31WW(V2.09) with a release date of 10/28/2011 loaded on your new Y470. An older 47CN28WW(V2.06) BIOS is on the Driver & Downloads page. That release date was listed as 2011-11-23. Go figure! I've been having a running "discussion" on the Lenovo site about why their Y470 update page is so out-of-date.
Stick with the Lenovo approved Intel HD Graphics Driver 8.15.10.2462. If you update your driver to the current 8.15.10.2559 via the Intel update site, it breaks the Fn + ↑Up/Down↓ on screen display for the brightness level.
Yes, the first thing you should do is create the Factory Restore Disks. I think you will be happy with your new laptop. I know I am.
