Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
siscorskiy,
Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, drivers that are not "customized" by Lenovo, will break their added on software. See this page, on the current thread regrading the 2509 driver:
Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
I tried 2509, and I wish I could update the driver to 2559 from the Intel site. That's why I'm so upset that Lenovo's driver update page is SO out of date. Now, when they put updates out on that page, and they don't work, I really get PO'ed.
I searched the Intel driver site, and I didn't find that 2462 driver. That's because it's a "special" driver that Lenovo has "messed" with. It's only available on Lenovo's web site.
I don't even trust the Bios update, on that site. It's probably gonna break my stable machine.

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Hello all,
I pulled the trigger and ordered a loaded Y570 on Saturday night. My expected ship date (to Canada) is January 18, 2012!
I have read this thread regarding shipping delays and have experienced Lenovo's slow shipping with my T61p back in 2008, but this seems a little ridiculous, especially since the order page was saying it would ship within 17 business days.
Lenovo customer support said that they expect it is a glitch and the date will decrease in a couple of days but is this the case anyone else has experienced lately? I am willing to wait for this great machine, but two months is a little excessive.
Any insight would be great. Thanks all for your help. This thread is a great resource!Ideapad Y570 - i7 2670QM, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB nVidia GT 555M, 64GB SSD Boot Drive & 750GB HD

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
In comparison to two months, three weeks would be great... even though I do like your six days more, fletchman
.
Okay, fingers crossed it will work out in my favour. I will let you guys know if there is an update...

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Hi Guys,
in a few Days i'm a Y570-Owner (ssd + hdd model). The thread here was very helpful and i decided, to buy the laptop.
Only one question: i'm not really a friend of the rapiddrive-technology. I prefer a clean cut from ssd and hdd. Has anyone this configuration? It is possible or is this a bad idea?
thx in advance for your answer.
toidi (Germany)
P.S.: sry for my english, i hope you can understand, what i mean :-)
thx in advance

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Toidi,
We talked about it a little bit on this thread:
SSD, RapidDrive, and Ideapad Y470
It somewhat applies to the Y570 too. I just received my Y570 yesterday and found/assume that RapidDrive is already active. I've decided to just go with it and see how fast it is rather than go through the trouble of reinstalling windows.
What no one has been able to answer so far is whether or not RapidDrive is better than "manually" managing a separate SSD and 5400 SATA drive, or whether the performance gains are significantly better or worse.

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Willdunz,
I downloaded the new Bios, IQY0206AX64.EXE, but did not attempt to install it yet.
I also downloaded, and successfully installed, the following new drivers:
Broadcom Ethernet Driver 14.8.0.5
Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link Driver 14.1.1.3
Broadcom Bluetooth Driver 6.4.0.2300
JMicron JMB38X Flash Media Controller 1.0.55.0
Synaptics Pointing Device Driver 15.3.31.1
I’m still testing, but as yet I haven’t had any problems with the new drivers.
The only driver that I had a problem with is the update to the Intel Onboard Graphics Driver. Lenovo’s update page has the driver version as 8.15.10.2462, with the date of 2011-11-24. As I’ve said, the downloaded file only installs 8.15.10.2342.
I got tired of waiting for Lenovo to fix this problem, so I went to the Intel site, and downloaded/installed the latest 8.15.10.2559 graphics driver. This 2559 driver still breaks the Fn + ↑Up/Down↓ on screen display for the brightness level, but that’s the only thing I’ve noticed that it breaks. All of the other “Touch Buttons” on screen displays work. (Mute/Volume/OneKey Theater/Thermal Management) I can live with that. Anyways, if I want to adjust the brightness, I can still use the Fn +↑Up/Down↓, or adjust it via the control panel.
I think I’m going to try installing the new Bios soon. I’ll post my results after I’ve tested it out.
