Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
i have this but the i3 version. the only place i feel that gets hot is the vent on the left side. palmrest and keyboard stays cool. the only problem im having is since the trackpad is not centered (more to the left), i sometimes hit it accidentally with my palm and my gun fires or whatnot (whatever LMB action is)

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
When u say wemt do u mean literaly went (hot air blowing.) or aluminium surface just above vent gets hot to? If it does, how much?
Trackpad isnt a problem , fn +f something should disable it.
Im concidering y570 with i7(i3 and i5 not avaiable yet) and asus k53sv i7 2670 + gt540m with asus ice cool, also aluminium palmrests, only im concered about asus maight throttle.
So anyone with i7 to share expiriances of bodu temperatures of y570( left palmrest and left keyboard) under 3 hours of gaming! Also i will disable turbo boost when gaming cause i dont need it! Answer fast i need to decide within few days! Thanks

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
I'm considering buying the i3 version of the y470, but I want to know what the battery life is like. At around 25% battery life with Wi-Fi on browsing the web and typing documents, how long would the battery last?
If this laptop will last 4+ hours in this scenario I will buy it for sure.

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Thank you for the BIOS file, it may help many others. I'm going to check it, flash it, test it and then repackage for anyone running an older BIOS. I will update the thread on if AES-NI is enabled or not.
EDIT:
AES-NI is not enabled on 2.08...
I'm attaching a flasher that will downgrade and upgrade, be careful. I have downgraded and upgraded my PC with each of these and my laptop is not a brick. I'm now running a hybrid of EC 2.06_MOD BIOS 2.08 to keep my advanced menus unlocked, to run the same BIOS hybrid as me, unzip and run InsydeFlash.exe in each folder in order. (Only if you are already on 2.06, if you are on a version below 2.06 you can jump straight to the 2.08 file with no issues and only use the 2.06 MOD if you want the menus unlocked.)
Rollback to y570_BIOS203
Official y570 2.06 (use this one or MOD)
Unlocked menus EC y570_BIOS206_MOD
BIOS only y570_BIOS208
Thread with whitelist removed 2.06.
[Unlocked] lenovo y 570 whitelist removal request
Unzip and overwrite and use each one individually. You may receive an EC Flash error, ignore it.
Picture is worth 1,000 words or so they say:

NOTE TO ALL:
What is good for the goose is not always good for the gander, I am going down a path that is against the grain and is not for all, please be careful with customizing in this manner as it may VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I thought I should add that, as well as remind you all of how to get back to OEM BIOS in case you need to turn your laptop in for warranty work, follow the downgrade link above to get back to 2.03. I also want to point out that all of my BIOS packages will not flash to incompatible models or series of laptops. Do not do this if you do not understand what is going on or are not comfortable with it.Last edited by bhoran83; 30th September 2011 at 09:46 AM.

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Heat has never been an issue with my PC, I did have a ton of other bugs that I have massaged out. I use my PC heavily and game hard as well. Hot air blows from the copper vent on the left side, other than that it is a solid PC, that is not a complaint as it blows less hot air than my desktop...

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Many thanks bhoran83.
The file for BIOS 2.08 if like using the official flasher correct, I can do a straight upgrade from 2.06 (not modded) to 2.08 right?
Just wondering what does the 2.06 mod unlock in the BIOS?

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
Hot air blows, thats fine, and normal for 45 watt tdp cpu and 30 watt gpu
What i am concern is " does the heat of notebook peaks on its surface. Does left part of notebook (where cpu and gpu are) so left part of keyboard and palmrests stay cool or it does heat up more or less.."
Thanks
I had a dell from my signature and whole left side gets anoyingly hot under hour of gaming or so.. Thats why im askin ya how lenovo behaves, i had y560 and it could get hot on plastic above wents, does this occurs on y570's aluminium?N5110 / 2630QM / GT525 / 6GB 1333 / 640GB @ 5200 RPM

Re: Lenovo Y470 and Y570 Official Owners Thread
I'll be posting screen shots in the unlock thread the bios was unlocked on, it does unlock a ton of options, some not to be messed with. You can jump straight to the 2.08 BIOS, it may not flash the EC so you will still have the same user input screen as 2.06 with the 2.08 BIOS running in the background, verifiable when entering BIOS as they are both listed on the first page. I'm putting my PC through the same situations today that would normally lock it up and want to see if this 2.08 BIOS helped me out in that area and with my 2.06 Modded EC I may be able to tweak further. I will see what I can do to get a flash-able EC for 2.08.
Is anyone running linux on a 2.08 BIOS factory machine? PM me if yes and I can tell you how to dump the EC.
EDIT:
After a heavy usage day the PC did not lock up or freeze in anyway under the same repeatable conditions it did in the past. 2.08 seems to improve stability for sure as well as add in support for more WiFi cards. Still no AES-NI though.
