Fan constantly running on high
For some reason, the fans on my dv6-6170us are constantly running on high. I have no idea why this is. I can start the computer up and just open Firefox and the fans will start kicking in. No idea what is causing this. Any suggestions? Also, I have my HP CoolSense setting set to Performance Optimized Mode.

Re: Fan constantly running on high
My DV7 was running on high because there was dust clogging the vents. When was the last time you cleaned out your DV6?

Re: Fan constantly running on high
That unfortunately is one factor some user forget to do is clean out the vents or take apart their laptop and do a thoroughly good dusting out of their laptop and reapplying their thermal paste. Dust builds up over time and thermal paste will wear out eventually. These are two thing one must remember if they want a laptop to last for some time til either it dies or reach its end of life span.

Re: Fan constantly running on high
Taking apart my system was a total PIA. It took me forever to reconnect the keyboard cable. Hopefully his DV6 isn't any more difficult than mine was. How long would you say stock thermal paste lasts before needing replacement? I've owned mine for just over a year now and plan on repasting after the 2-year mark.
