Default giving my old DV1000 a new life!

I have an aging HP pavilion DV1000 bought it back in 2006..was rocking until the motherboard fried and stayed like this for about 2 years, now recently fixed the motherboard and other problem occurs!

-when starting the machine the screen turn completely white, slowly fading into black from the center of the screen, and the computer continues to boot up and load windows and can hear the windows start up sound, wont work several boot times! some people told me it is the defect inverter, which is partially true because the LCD backlit is not stable when moving the screen lid!

-when moving the screen lid the LCD gets screwy and dispalys everything black (or dark) into red! wont go until I move the lid! disassambled the whole LCD and moved it and made sure that everything is connected probably, nothing appears until I get everything back, this laptop is a mystery!

-recommendations for the best aftermarket battery, because HP don't seem to make them anymore..

    thank you

Just a guess, your display cable may have a break or short in it. Several years ago I had something similar happen with the display on an Omnibook XE3 and found that a few wires in the cable had broken where the cable had been pinched. I spliced them back together and its been working fine ever since.

Make sure that the connectors on both ends of the cable are fully seated first though.

I also have a DV1000 that I replaced the motherboard on a few years back. I was going to buy a battery off ebay for it (I think they were a bit over $20 shipped) but never got around to it.
