HP DV6T Ivy bridge refresh
HP Pavilion dv6 and dv6t Quad Edition series | HP Official Store
HP just released their new refreshed model of the DV6T. It has the new Ivy Bridge i7 processors going from the 3610qm to 3820qm and with the nVidia 650m graphics card. I was originally gonna get the Envy but the DV6 redesign looks better to me. How will the graphics card compare to the AMD 7750m slated for the Envy with its Ivy bridge refresh? Also I'm planning on having this laptop for about 3 yrs or so so should I get the highest Intel processor or no (I'll be running animation software)?

The 650M in the new dv6 is in the 560M league.
About the 7750m, i didn't see any benchmarks yet.

Re: HP DV6T Ivy bridge refresh
I should have waited to get one. Now they have backlit keyboards. But they don't have matte screens anymore.

Re: HP DV6T Ivy bridge refresh
What do you mean? I see:
15.6-inch diagonal Full HD Anti-glare LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080)
This is what they called the matte screen before.
Regarding the CPU: if you will be using it for tasks where the CPU matters, I would go for the middle one (3720QM). The 3820QM is not worth it unless you are absolutely sure that you will need the extra L3 cache -- otherwise, the performance difference is minimal.

Re: HP DV6T Ivy bridge refresh
you dont need a processor upgrade considering SB?IB are phenomenal processors. as for the 7750m vs gt 650m, the card that the envy's are going to get are going to match if not beat the 650m cause the envy's are suppose to be their premium line. i also like the redesign of the dv series however i have heard bad/subpar reviews about the build quaility just something you should know if you are planning to buy itPrevious Laptop: Toshiba Satallite A215 | 15" 1280x800 | Athlon 64 x2 TK - 53 | 2 gb ram | Radeon x1200 | 1 minute battery life -_- <- crappy aint it?
Crappy Desktop: HP Pavillion | Phenom x4 9500 | 6 gb ram | Radeon HD 6770 <- not much better
Current Laptop: HP Envy 15t-3200|i7-3720QM 2.6GHz 6MB L3 Cache (Turbo Boost to 3.6GHz)|8GB 1600 MHz RAM|750GB 7200RPM Hybrid HDD|1GB AMD 7750m|1920x1080 Radiance IPS Screen

Re: HP DV6T Ivy bridge refresh
The processor upgrade prices are ridiculous right now, no way would I pay for any of the options considering the base model is fine. Good to see the Nvidia 650m upgrade is very reasonable price at $50 or $75.
FYI, there are new HP coupons, one for $400 off a $1,399 config that work on the new dv6t / dv7t, just posted the codes here:
