Ahhh, I spent close to 1300 dollars last month. I was not expecting a drastic jump in the GPU, knew about the Ivy Bridge. That's the reason I pulled the trigger. Much rather have an nvidia than deal with Radeon and the various opengl issues it has.

Here is the 3DMark11 score of GT 650M with the DDR3 memory:

The 7690M with GDDR5 score P1550. So a GT 650M with DDR3 memory score about 40% better. There will also be a GDDR5 version of GT 650M.

    Cheers

I am not so good with benchmark numbers, where does this put the gt 650m in terms of the 500ms
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked at the 3DMark11 score of the gtx 560m and its avg is 2051.5, the 650 with ddr3 is faster than gtx 560m??? I wonder what it will be with ddr5...unless i read the benchmark numbers wrong :P

GTX 560M and GT 650M scores just about equal in 3DMark11...

BUT GT 650M will only have a 128bit which means it will be slower than a GTX 560M in 1080p. But 650M will shine in 1366x768 and 1600x900 gaming.

And that HP Pastapvz is linking to is a GT 650M with GDDR5, which means much faster than the 650M tested above.

    Kepler is a beast

The thing is that the GT 650M with GDDR5 will probably perform very good in 1080p too because it have a very fast memory that makes up for the small memory bus (128 bit). The memory is clocked way higher than the 500 series. That is why you see the GDDR5 GT 650M version with 1080p notebooks (Like Lenovo Y580)

Even the GT 650M with DDR3 might be good enough to play some games @ 1080p. Heck it might play many if you lower the detail settings. But for god sakes go for GDDR5 version if you have the chance
