Re: HP dv6t display replacement
I assume it does, but just to be sure, can I do this on the AMD model, the dv6z? I've swapped out LCD's before and it was a piece of cake, so I'm totally doing this if I can!

Re: HP dv6t display replacement
guys, anyone tried this upgrade on old dv7 4100 series? i currently have a 1600x900 screen and i want FHD , i wonder if i could put a 1920x1080 screen, though only see others 900p displays, maybe those screens of first envy models (1xxx) that have 1920x1080 could fit on my pavilion

Re: HP dv6t display replacement
Awesome thread. I have a quick question. I have the DV6T-6000. I don't see that model being an option on the website. Which should I choose? DV6T-QE? DV6T-6100? I don't want to mess this up.

Re: HP dv6t display replacement
Great post with a lot of information! Thanks for that!
I decided to change my screen and I ordered LP156WF1(TL)(F3) mate version.
I've seen a lot of you having trouble finding the cable and at very expensive prices, so here's my contribution :
LCD LVDS Cable of HP DV6-6000 FHD (50.4RN10.021)
23 dollars at the moment
I ordered it today, the website seem's to be from china as the telephone indicator let me know, but I gave it a try. The payment is well secured and if you're not in hurry there is an economic (10-20 days) delivery for 3.6 dollars to have it delivered in my case to australia. Still to australia, the regular shipping is 36 dollars to have it deliver within 5 days.
I let you know if everything work out properly.

Re: HP dv6t display replacement
Touch Screen Any one?
I just got a HP Pavilion dv6-6135DX from newegg, good deal on a refurbished one. I like this computer but the glossy display is terrible.
I like the idea of a 1080p display with better viewing angles a lot. I am wondering though, any one try fitting the HD touch screen. I am not sure what it would entail but there are Dv6's with touch screens. Adding a touch screen would make this lap top even cooler. The touch screens seem to have actual glass also which I like a lot.
@maxencecote
Thank for finding the cable at a much cheaper price. I am waiting to hear your feedback on it and I hope it works out for you. Not being gouged on a ribbon cable makes this even more attractive upgrade.
I can probably even sell the old screen on e-bay.

Re: HP dv6t display replacement
I am going to open my new pavillion dv-6 right now and see if I can dim or disconnect the led that makes the HP logo in the lid light up. It drives me crazy and even though its a small amount of power used its un necessary. I also hate the way it bleeds through.
now if some one just figures out how to add a little led for the number luck this computer will be nearly perfect.
Edit I just disconnected the stupid LED in the logo. No more light bleeding through on dark scenes while watching blu-rays. Now I have just got to get an HD display.Last edited by Bikerjay; 23rd February 2012 at 12:09 AM.

Re: HP dv6t display replacement
Just have to say that I replaced the screen this morning on my dv6t and wow, what a great difference. I bought the matte screen as the OP suggested, and couldn't be happier, no more glossy for me.
Only step that I missed in the OP and the manual was removing the upper speaker bar, there are four screws in the battery tray and one offset from the battery tray. This must come off to get the display all the way off. No need to take out the system board either.
