Re: dV6T/7 switchable graphics
So now FSX incorporates the ATI Radeon 6770 now?

Re: dV6T/7 switchable graphics
I've had my dv6t (1GB 6770m,1080 screen) now for a couple of days and have been reading this forum with interest. I updated CC to 11.6 and have set 3dMark 11.exe to use the high performance processor, yet I am only getting 6-7 fps and a score of 1536 3dmarks (CPU scores well on physics but graphics scores are lame). I can't believe the 6770 is being used given these results (and the 3dmark site lists the intel graphics as the processor in its summary). I thought this was a directx11 benchmarking tool so the openGL issue should not have affected the switching. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: dV6T/7 switchable graphics
@roncagg
as you can see from AMD Radeon HD 6770M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
your score appears to be accurately reflecting the performance of the 6770m.
Were you expecting desktop discrete graphics performance from a notebook? Notebook CPU performance is fairly behind a desktop, but when it comes to the GPU it is lightyears behind. You have to sacrifice a lot for a small form factor.

Re: dV6T/7 switchable graphics
I'm not so sure about that. I had FSX working great on my first DV6--I had frame rates often in the 40's and seldom below 25 (sliders up to max), and without ANY micro-stutters. I'm not familar with how taxing some games are, that have been mentioned on this board, but when I've got a computer that let's me play FSX silky-smooth, I consider that a great feat as guys with purpose-built hot-shot computers complain all the time about micro-stutters and frame rate issues.

Re: dV6T/7 switchable graphics
jiggawhat, thanks for the link. You're right I was thinking performance would be closer to desktop, or closer to frame rates others have cited here. But what frustrates me is that I can never verify that the 6770 is being utilized - right clicking on the catalyst in the taskbar always shows Mobile HD Graphics, never 6770, and the 3dmark site, the same. I'd just like to know...

Re: dV6T/7 switchable graphics
Well my dv6 is supposed to be in next week. My words exactly when I purchased were, "finally, going to be able to play minecraft with high settings and enjoy it for once." ....-_-
I'm sure there will be a fix eventually, and I know this laptop is still an amazing machine so I have zero intentions of returning it. But it's unfortunate that when you spend a lot of money on something, it's not how it's supposed to be.
Still excited for it none the less.
