And does anyone know what fps the dv6qe runs WoW at in raids? If you guys have a video of it or could do a test, i would really appreciate it.

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
1.) I will test whichever setup I have at time of delivery. So if i've ordered an SSD and if it's been delivered by the time the laptop is it will be the first tested which is likely.
Note: I will probably wait for this drive just released by Corsair. It's faster than the OCZ's I posted while only costing $139 for 60GB ($40 More). Read Speed of 550MB/s and Write Speed of 520MB/s http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/16/c...-modest-money/
2.) You should expect the same performance when running at the same resolution yes.
3.) The 6570 is available for both the DV6 and DV7 I believe although really for the twenty-five bucks who would keep it? Aren't we all wondering about something more powerful
? I don't have my laptop and I'm already sitting here thinking "How could I make it faster and more powerful"
4.) The Set-up is decent. I would change the processor for sure though. Listed are benchmarks for the available CPU's And One Extra
Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00GHz 6323
Intel Core i7-2720QM @ 2.20GHz 7411 (Plus 1088 Points or 17.2% Increase in performance vs i7-2630QM)
Intel Core i7-2820QM @ 2.30GHz 7544 (Plus 133 Points or 1.8% Increase in performance vs i7-2720QM)
Intel Core i7-2820QM @ 2.30GHz 7544 (Plus 1221 Points or 19.3% Increase in performance vs i7-2630QM)
Not Currently Applicable - Maybe Possible After Market Upgrade - Possible BIOS And Board Restrictions
Intel Core i7-2920XM @ 2.50GHz 8082 (Plus 1759 Points or 28.1% Increase in performance vs i7-2630QM)
Intel Core i7-2920XM @ 2.50GHz 8082 (Plus 671 Points or 9.05% Increase in performance vs i7-2720QM)
Intel Core i7-2920XM @ 2.50GHz 8082 (Plus 538 Points or 7.14% Increase in performance vs i7-2820QM)
The estimates given are percentages of the card directly below. i.e. 1.8 percent of the 2720QM's score is 133 or 19.3 percent of the 2630QM's score is 1221.
Those are rough estimates with Google Math =P
I would downgrade a feature you can later upgrade like RAM, HDD, or CD/DVD/Blu-Ray and upgrade the processor. This way later down the road you can upgrade the laptop and have a lot more future-proofing. Even more so since many games, applications, and multimedia programs are now starting to take advantage of Quad Core processors.
I like the GPU of course and the large amounts of RAM and HDD space.

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
You cannot upgrade to i7-2920xm because it has a tdp of 55w whereas the other ones have 45w.Meaning that it generates more heat than the laptop can handle. It cant even cool the the 2630 adequately when both cpu and gpu load are at 100%

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
Ok i bumped up the 6770m's voltage to 1.055 and got a stable OC at 925/1050.
Max temps ~78
A little bit and i could have reached 1GHZ on a mobile gpu!ARGH!

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
I wouldn't say they can't handle the 2630QM but I would agree that it shouldn't get any hotter. With the info you've provided I agree the TDP is way to high and the CPU would not work properly if at all. To top that off the Manufacture will most likely have it blocked in the BIOS for that reason. Thanks for the info!
Aha no worries man
I enjoy looking that kind of stuff up sooo yeah aha. I appreciate you saying so though! BTW I meant to add this to that post but somehow spaced it. It's the link to the Engadget Page for the Corsair SSD. http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/16/c...-modest-money/ If you have any other questions shoot them out there and I'll tell you if I know something
I asked this in the main thread as well but unfortunately never got a response. How did you overvolt it? I know it's overclocked using MSI Afterburner. Are the overvolting options in that program as well? Any chance you could run a benchmark comparison between your current clock rates and stock? It would be appreciated
.
Edit: Never mind I googled it and was able to find that Sapphire TriXX that info was provided by XEROenvy without even knowing it. He created a thread just for overclocking this card here Overlclocking the 6770m unfortunately it doesn't look like it ever really took off as its still only four posts. This could be a good place for people to start posting scores and such when they bench and discussing pro's con's and overall characteristics of the card. Figured people may like to know
I must have typed it in wrong yesterday or something because I wasn't able to find the info via google. it was one of those "Let me google that for you" moments aha sorry
.

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
I'll see how far i can get it and will post benches.
And when the cpu and gpu loads are at 100% the cpu temps reach 95 C and i would call that inadequate cooling.Maybe it's just my notebook and it needs repasting which i am extremely bored to do.
EDIT:I so hate AMD drivers. When they crash they dont recover!Unbelievable.
On another note i am getting 8127 gpu score on vantage having 925/1080Last edited by edft56; 17th May 2011 at 01:19 PM.

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
Was that temperature reading taken during stock use or overclock/overvolt use?
You may look into repasting if it's stock most the reviews I've read are more avg around 80.
Are you using the 9cell or 6the cell. (Wondering if your back is raised)
Is your laptop the DV7 or the DV6? (cooling setups could possibly be different.)
How long had the laptop been on?
Was it in your lap or on a desk or cooler?
What cooling setting did you have Cool Sense set to?
What caused the CPU/GPU to reach full load. (Example: Games, Benchmarks, Intensive tasks, Prime95 etc.)
What were your stock scores before oc/ov?
Sorry I know it's a lot of questions I don't mean to be rude just like to check the variables.
Also sorry for any typos im on my phone
Note: With my DV5t-1000 I have had for around three years. Once a year I take it apart and clean the fan/heat sink assembly (without removing the heatsink) As I noticed the finely spaced fins would create pieces (yes pieces) of dust that couldn't get out.
About two weeks ago I cleaned and repasted my heatsink. Before doing so running Prime95 for 10 Minutes resulted in a 99*C reading (steady) When placed on my bed or a pair of jeans to replicate normal use Prime 95 raised so fast that the system hit 115*C before it could shutdown. (auto shutdown is 110* for safety)
After Repasting with Arctic Silver 5 Prime95 does NOT raise the CPU temp above 88*C EVER even when placed on my bed. the gpu never reaches above 75 (usually staying in the 60's sometimes upper 50's)
Point being I doubt you need to clean your heatsink but Reapplying new thermal paste as you suggested can't hurt i'd do it (and probably will as i've got a nearly full tube of AS5 sitting here.) Remember that you're safe temperature could and probably will become an unsafe temperature down the road if you Over Volt due to dust and such so just remember to keep an eye on it
. Also Hp Tends to be a bit excessive i've noticed. They also like thermal pads.\

Re: Gaming - dv6tqe/dv7tqe
1)Stock clocks.I never oc a mobile cpu
2)6 cell on the dv6
3)Dont remember but it doesnt matter. The cpu is always at 44 whenever i am not doing anything heavy
4)It was on desk, cooler unfortunately doesn't drop the temps
5)I reinstalled windows so i dont have coolsense but the fan was at max.Does anyone know where to download coolsense?I cant seem to find it anywhere.
6)I used prime95 and atitool.
Stock gpu score was ~6300 if my memory serves me right.
