1080P screen is any good or no?

    Thx
    No back light

It gets uncomfortably warm for me when plugged in an on my lap. I just unplug it and it's fine.

Speakers are outstanding (for a laptop)...really impressive

Don't know what your VRAM question means...haha

    I don't have a 1080P screen so no comment

    Thanks for the quick response..
VRAM (graphics card memory), is not 2 GB instead of 1GB. Many says it is just marketing gimmick. I was wondering if anyone CAD (Computer Aided Design) user can point any benefits of more GPU ram...

I was looking to get this but after hearing about no back-lit keyboard and high temps, I will look somewhere else...can't imaging why they would up the VRAM/Screen resolution but not add backlit keyboard and do something about the heat...

Mine did not get hot at all - whereas my current laptop actually burns my leg. Maybe the coolsense was not adjusted properly.

Tahoe1: Please let me know what the temps are like with your upgraded laptop. Also, please post if it has a back-lit keyboard or not when it comes.

    Thankx

I got two dv6t-6000s - first one peaks at about 84C whereas the second peaks at 97C running prime96 torture test.

Thought there must be something wrong, so I opened up the second one to reapply thermal paste. HOLY CRAP the factory application SUCKED! Half of it was not covered, gigantic bubble in the middle of CPU, and lots of it was squeezed to the side on the tape.

After reapplication, it peaks around 80C and the physics score in 3DMark11 went up about 800 points.

    Hi,

does anyone have any experience with the HP service? I was wondering how long it takes for them to return a repaired laptop. I have dv6t-6000 quad edition with i7-2630QM/ATI6770M and I'm very happy with it, but the build-in camera and microphone stopped working. The camera completely disappeared from the device manager. I suspect a disconnected camera module cable.

Also, what temperature does the CPU core usually have on idle? Mine has 45-48C on idle with intel graphics and 50-54C with ATI 6770. Is that usual? Surprisingly, the laptop body warms only slightly, no discomfort at all, even after playing Crysis for extended periods, even when the core temperature rises above 90C.

Will do. Please note that the salesman who took my order confirmed that it does NOT have a back-lit keyboard.

Same here web camera doesn't work, I was on the phone with tech support for two hours and they couldnt get it working. After talking to customer service I could return it for a full refund which kind of works out since I've had it for more than 21 days, probably going to exchange it for the new 1080p model.

I would have considered returning my dv6tqe-6000 for one with the 2gig Radeon module and enhanced LED display, however, I have noticed that they nolonger offer an SSD option. Which for me, was a huge factor in deciding my purchase. I went with the SSD and usb3.0 portable drive option purposely to alleviate any issues that may have risen due to heat. Which quite a few high-end notebooks seem to suffer from, IMO. Just the way it is...

The extra money you would save by instead getting a 1080p display with a 7200 rpm drive would be a much better machine in my opinion. The high cost for speed and performance on an already highly equipped system seems pointless, especially in comparison to the option of HD display. I don't think any major heat issues have been reported in the dv6/dv7 updates anyways.
