Re: HP DM1z
wow talk about apple and oranges:
AMD E350: Dual Core, 18watt TDP chip price at <$75 dollar
Core i7-2820QM: Quad Core, 45watt TDP, price at $568 dollars
it is like comparing a Toyota Prius against the F-22 fighter jet, why did cnet even try to compare them
I am waiting for a Core i3 Dual Core 18watt TDP processor, before they can reasonably compared. But even then the Core i3 SB will be close to $200.

Re: HP DM1z
Ever since Viacom/CBS corp. bought them out in 2008, they seem to be on a downhill ride to idiocy..

Re: HP DM1z
I like this quote:
"With versions of the same promise from both chipmakers we were eager to compare the gaming capabilities of each. The two laptops tested are an Intel-provided Sandy Bridge whitebox (a non-commercial test unit) and the HP Pavilion dm1--a high-end ultraportable with the AMD Fusion CPU. It's obviously not an apples-to-apples comparison--one is on the high-end (Sandy Bridge Core i7) while the other is at the low-end (AMD Fusion-E series)--but this will give a broader prospective on whether gaming is feasible on either level."
Not bad, saying our unit is a "high-end ultraportable"
even though it starts out at only $449 (or even less with a coupon).

Re: HP DM1z
This thing is pretty much blowing me away at this point. I put in 3:45 of solid gaming last night before I got my first low battery warning. And it performed beautifully. Dead Space (on medium settings) and TF2 (on high settings) played without a stutter.

Re: HP DM1z
My bag came in and it fits the Dm1z perfectly. I got the Timbuk2 D-Lux in size small. Highly recommended
