Re: HP DM1z
Just ordered my dm1z today! I will be a junior in college next year and i needed a new computer, after my hp touchsmart finally died after only 2 years ://.
I am in the business school and they have a list of specifications that they recommend.
Multiple Core processor at 2.5 GHz or greater
4GB Ram (minimum)
160GB, SATA, 7200RPM hard drive or greater
CD/DVD writer
Integrated 1.0 Gigabit Ethernet
802.11 b,g wireless
multiple USB ports
Ability to run Windows 7 (64 bit)
ability to run Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise or Office 2010 Professional (release date summer 2010)
I customized mine to 4 gb ram and 360 GB hard drive. The only thing i am worried about it the processor being 1.6 ghz. Is this that big of a deal? I'll mainly be using word, excel, web, and itunes. Oh and im also worried the screen might be too small, the netbook im using right now is 10.1, and its not big enough for school stuff, but my old HP was 12" and that was fine, will this 11.6 be ok?
Also, I ordered it a few hours ago and it said it would be built by july 12th and i got 5-7 day shipping, any chance I'll have it before?? I hope so! Im using my dads netbook right now and its soooo slow.
THANKS!

Re: HP DM1z
What are you going to run on it that requires 2.5 or higher?
Not even reg. video games require 2.5 dual cores as a minimum.

Re: HP DM1z
thats what I was thinking! theyre really weird with their requirements, they also don't allow macs, unless you are an "advanced" user that can handle parallels.. dumb

Re: HP DM1z
I think they mean 2.5GHz single core.
Either way, that's some strict, highend requirements. The Zacate can run Star Craft on Med and TF2 on low settings without much problem Unless you are doing a lot of rendering or intense programming at school, the laptop should sufficeHP Pavilion DM1Z------------------------------Asus Transformer

Re: HP DM1z
Anyone know why sometimes HD video on youtube plays really well with hardware acceleration, and sometimes they play badly with software decoding.
I dont ever change any settings.
Does it depend on the the codec of the video?Last edited by nadnerb; 5th July 2011 at 03:17 PM.

Re: HP DM1z
I am considering buying one here in India (DM1-3014AU).
The only feature that stops it being perfect for me is that is doesn't have USB 3.0.
When might the next revision be? Chances of USB 3.0 coming?
Any major negatives I should consider?
