Re: HP DM1z
Thanks. I knocked down the temperature to 6300 and upped the saturation. It still needs some tweaking, but the 6500k was the big culprit.
That netflix app isn't taking my member signin. It just tells me my info is incorrect.
It looks like it's just some web-interface, so it can be deleted.

Re: HP DM1z
Just got my dm1z. It looks great so far with one caveat: this is a noisy laptop! Even with HP coolsense enabled, the fan is constantly running and rather loud. Is there a setting I can change or software I can use to monitor proper thermals, or should I chalk this up as a bum unit?

Re: HP DM1z
It looks like this Ralink Wireless adapter is stuck on 20hz and not seeing my 40hz to get me to 300mbps.
My intel adapters allow me to not restrict the adapter to 20hz, but I don't see that in this adpaters properties. Anyone have the solution?

Re: HP DM1z
The Ralink is a single channel adapter which operates only on the 20hz width. You will at best see 150mbps on this card.
ALSO..
In my expierence unless you are in an area with NO other 2.4GHZ AP's the 40MHZ width kills your range. I set all of my 2.4GHZ AP's to 20MHz only. I only use the 40MHz on the 5.8GHZ Band (802.11a)
Part of the hold up on 802.11N certification was that Intel wanted to disable 40MHZ on the 2.4Ghz band because of the overcrouding. They caved and agreed to go along with it but by defualt their adapters (most of them anyway) will not do 40MHZ in the 2.4GHZ band and you have to manually set them to allow it.

Re: HP DM1z
question
the passmark for the amd 350 is 742. Am I right to say that the "fusion" thingy is suppose to make the thing go faster? I have vague memories from a video review that the computer uses an apu... I'm asking because I want to compare this netbook's processor to the SU7300, which has the passmark of 948.
Sorry if I seem to know nothing about computers. I'm still trying to get an idea of how the dm1z compares in terms of performance to a vostro v13, which uses a su7300

Re: HP DM1z
This computer doesn't have as much CPU processing power versus an SU7300. What this APU does is give you the graphics power that is far superior to an intel GMA 4500 mobile that is typically paired with the SU7300...As far as raw CPU power goes, this "APU" is only about equivalent to a dual core Atom...
It's got enough basic computing power to do everyday stuff, and enough graphics power to handle older games and casual modern gaming...

Re: HP DM1z
I have to say, i have owned a U230 and now a DM1... in gaming, performance of the DM1z is... just a bit better than my old U230 with overcloked HD3200 to 700mhz.
E-350 is short on CPU performance, and the non-existant overclocking capacity is not helping at all..
setfsb supports the Hudson A50, but in the DM1 fails to read clocks, that means is using an external clock generator...
I was thinking about finding the PLL and send the data to the setfsb creator, but, i dont even know if he still alive.

Re: HP DM1z
Does anyone know if simply disabling bluetooth (right-click on BT icon on taskbar), rather than turning off through HPWA, saves power?
