Be careful The first guys I spoke with only wanted to give me 25$. They transferred me to someone else who did the 10%, which was a little under 50$.
I simply asked them why I should not cancel my order and reorder under the code they emailed us for 15% off future purchases.

Im all for saving a couple bucks, but I was willing to pay $500 for it and if they sent me a coupon for being a couple days late I wouldnt use it against them. I mean they are a company that needs to make money to stay in business and they have always been good competition against other PC makers. $25 to me is not much, but $25 from 10,000 people adds up.

It's all kind of moot anyway. I was only going to call if it hadn't shipped by tomorrow morning, and as it is it should get here around the time I had originally anticipated. Not really that big a deal; just me being impatient, wanting to play with my new toy.

Yeah mine shipped to. Ordered first day as well Jan 9.
    Current status:
Jan 23, 2011 9:47 AM Clearance delay MEMPHIS, TN

So it won't be long now. Normally HP sends an email notification of shipment. Not this time

However, my shipment began on Jan 21, which was what HP said it would be on the delayed shipment email. To the day so I am somewhat impressed.

UPDATE: Just received official shipment email from HP.

Any idea until when the $100 off $449 price is going to last?

That one should stay the same. Pretty much the usual online standard discount. However, I can't guarantee anything HP does. Nobody can. But based on the last generation dm1z, the price stayed the same but they offered a larger HD standard for the same price towards the end of that models life cycle.

What I'm wondering however, is whether they will offer the E240 single core bobcat APU in the DM1 at some point in the future. Look for lower price on such a model.. although I would not recommend it.

For those that are still trying to decide, I think these two sentences from the Engadget dm1 review says allot: " The Windows 7 Home Premium system saw zero lag while simultaneously running Microsoft Word Starter 2010, TweetDeck, Skype, Trillian, and Firefox with 10 tabs open. Throwing a 1080p video into the mix didn't slow the system either. " http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/17/h...fusion-review/

Thought you all might find this interesting:

MSI E350IA-E45 AMD Fusion Motherboard Review - Introduction

It's a review of essentially the dm1z hardware on a mini-itx motherboard. Of course there will be differences in performance to an extent, but a good comparison and reference on what we can expect. The most impressive thing to me is with everything plugged in and upgraded the system didn't go above 61 watts.

I understand. But they charged our CC when we ordered it, not when it ships. Plus, they gave themselves 10 days to make it, and they couldn't even make that. HP is not new to this game. Don't shoot me, but in this case, they could learn a thing or two from Apple.

Every company has delays. Even Apple. And product delays usually aren't directly the fault of the company selling the hardware, but rather a issue with the supplier. And more often the supplies were expected and promised and then a little delay at the factory caused a big delay. Seconds of downtime at a factory could mean days or even months of delay. Or demand shoots up and the supply dwindles. Which is likely the case with this since the new hardware is cutting edge, everyone wants a piece of it.
