Re: *OFFICIAL: HP dm4t Owners Lounge!*
Where are you seeing that update? I'm not seeing it. This is all I see in status order: Order accepted
(Estimated to ship on June 1, 2010)
I hate how they shipped out my warranty and case sleeve already without the laptop.. it's like a tease once it arrives.
Can I ask you why you didn't get the extended warranty? I did because I had a bad experience with hardware failure on my last laptop and I needed peace of mind because it's HP and it's a new notebook.
I hope HP surprises us and has the dm4's at our doors on June 1stHP Pavilion dm4t + i5-430M Dual Core processor + 4GB DDR3 + 320GB 7200RPM + Intel(R) HD Graphics + 14.0" diagonal High + Definition HP BrightView LED Display

I hope so too. This is exactly why I usually order pre-built laptops and pay the premium for quick shipping, I'm impatient.

I did not get the extended warranty. I'm not too worried about it. If something goes wrong 13 months from now, I'll think otherwise, but I'm willing to take the risk. I could always get another $300 laptop in two years if something goes wrong with this one.
Bing cash back is 10% again... glad I jumped on this deal when I did!
I ended up buying one of these last night to go along with my first laptop.Last edited by roemer21; 20th May 2010 at 11:51 AM.

It will change where it says "Order accepted" when your status updates like mine. I didn't get the extended warranty because it's a waste of money. Hp covers you for the first year for free. Usually any problems cost less to fix than the warranty, and I can solve any software issues myself. If something does go horribly wrong and it's a super expensive fix, i can always buy the extended warranty and have them fix it (yes, you're not supposed to do that, but o well).

Re: *OFFICIAL: HP dm4t Owners Lounge!*
Are you guys crazy ... I would turn my computer off and not turn it on again until June 1. Whatching each step on the process is torture.
It would be bad enough if HP delivered a case and warranty before the computer. I would have to stare at the empty case for days as a reminder of my new notebook.
Thanks for your replies on the I5 issue. My application is a bit different. I do a lot of video editing and I have found that every few ghz helps keep the process smoother. SSD's help by keeping load time to a minimum as well.
My software, which is my company's proprietary editor, is very CPU dependent. I'm not an expert on the software, but I think it relies on the GPU primarily for rendering (at least that's when my old 8600M GT would get hot as hell). I would get an I7-620M on the Envy 14 if they offered it. As far as price, I think the I5-540M is actually $225 more expensive than the base I3-350M. But, with Bing cash back, I can get $55 off that price. So, yea, I think its worth it if you have functions to perform that are either CPU dominant or which you would otherwise pair the CPU with integrated graphics.

I can't decide if I should go with this laptop or this Asus UL30VT-A1. What do you guys think?

Re: *OFFICIAL: HP dm4t Owners Lounge!*
I say go with the dm4t. I came close to pulling the trigger on that very same Asus notebook, but the specs of the dm4t are much much better and I prefer the design of it as well. The Asus does have much better battery life, but you have to sacrifice performance to get that kind of battery life, which is why it uses a low frequency, ultra low voltage Core 2 Duo. But if you aren't in a hurry, you may want to wait until we all get ours in the mail just in case there happens to be some massive issue with the dm4t.
As for order status, mine says the order has been dropped to the factory and is estimated to ship on June 1.
But wow, I'm really glad I decided to order mine yesterday seeing as the BCB is down to 10% now.Last edited by dangerskew; 20th May 2010 at 04:46 PM.
