    Are most of you who have posted your specs buying the dm4t for gaming? I am amazed at the number of I5-430M's that were ordered. I figured that, with the 25% discount, buyers would be tempted to maximize the cpu power due to the lower cost. At some point, there is a trade off in battery power consumption (I5M vs I7M vs I7QM). But i would have guessed that everyone would be ordering the I5-540M because of its efficient power and cheaper price of upgrading.

    Apparently, I am completely wrong.

    Just ordered mine. I must say that I'm very excited and happy about my first laptop purchase! Here are my specs:

    HP Pavilion dm4t customizable Notebook PC

    * • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    * • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-430M Dual Core processor (2.26GHz, 3MB L2 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.53GHz
    * • 3GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    * • 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    * • 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5450 switchable graphics
    * • 14.0" diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768)
    * • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    * • HP TrueVision Webcam + Fingerprint Reader + Digital Microphone
    * • Wireless-N Card
    * • Full-size island-style keyboard
    * • 50% OFF! One 6 Cell (standard) and One 9 Cell (over-sized) Lithium Ion Battery
    * • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    * • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

    Estimated build date: June 1, 2010

    Came out to be $889.99 + $37.60 (MO Tax) - $ 222.50 (BCB) = $705.09. Not bad! A 5650 GPU is about the only thing that would have made this deal even more sweet.

    To Bronsky:

    I will be using mine for gaming, along with many other tasks. After looking long and hard at the reviews and benchmarks on the i5 processors, I must say that the i5-540M isn't worth the extra $$. Not to me anyway.

    I planned on getting the i5-540m for that reason, but figured I will use this only for grad school and some web surfing/streaming netflix/hulu... didnt really seem like a huge need for me.

    To you, would it really be worth another $75 for the 520m, or $131 for the 540m? I didnt think they'd be, so went ahead and got the 430m.

    I'm not using mine for gaming, I have a desktop for that and the HD 5450 isn't very good for gaming.

    And no, I didn't think it was worth the extra cost for just a little more processing power because the I5-450M should be more than enough for my needs.

    From what I have seen the i5-520 and i5-540 are not $100 and $175 better than the i5-430. Besides, I a fairly certain that the 5450 is going to be the bottleneck of the system and I haven't heard of a game that won't be fine with the 430
