Re: *OFFICIAL: HP dm4t Owners Lounge!*
Open question: do any of you plan to use this notebook with an external keyboard and monitor? If so, do you have any tips?
I'm debating what to do with mine. My current computer is a desktop, and I have a nice Samsung display for it (I forget what size, but it's widescreen and definitely more than 14") and Logitech wireless mouse/keyboard. I don't want to get rid of them, especially the monitor. I work from home a fair bit, and though the dm4t seems nice enough for that kind of use, I was thinking the external peripherals might make it more comfortable. But I worry about the messiness of cables, etc. that could come with that.
Any sage advice?

I would say to use the monitor every time you will be sitting at home and at a desk. Makes sense to me. A vga connection cable will work fine, but hdmi might be better if you monitor supports that input.
As for the wireless mouse/keyboard, use them if you don't mind having the extra cables. I plan to use a wireless mouse with mine. I just bought the new logitech anywhere mouse, and the thing is AWESOME! If you pair it with a logitech wireless k340 keyboard, and you're golden. It will only use one dongle or usb connector, so you'll still have plenty of open slots. Granted, this is a lot of money, but if you plan to use it a lot at home or even in hotels and such, this is a nice option. Both are portable and easy to connect/use.

Must be nice when everything has to be shipped to you second day air
Thanks for the info on how soon you received your laptops.
I am thinking we'll get these by the end of the week, maybe next Tuesday like abaddon says. We shall see. Like I said, a cookie to the person who gets theirs first!Lenovo y470 | 14.0" (1366 x 768) | Core i7-2630QM | 8GB DDR3 | 750GB 5400RPM | Nvidia GT 550m | Blu-ray | 4.85 lbs | Windows 7 HP x64

Yes, all of them CTOs, from Shanghai.
Seems like 4 days is the norm for the amount of time it takes from being shipped to its arrival on your doorstep.
Though sometimes, HP ships via the Europe route (Shanghai>Kazakhstan>Paris>US) for some odd reason and it takes a couple days longer longer..
I live in southwest Michigan btw.

I really want to order, but I want to wait for a nice discount. Such a predicament.

Guys, do your shipments say "Shipment exception" and "Package received after FedEx cutoff"
A little worried about those...anyone know what they mean?Last edited by mnp2005; 27th May 2010 at 03:03 AM.

Re: *OFFICIAL: HP dm4t Owners Lounge!*
It means the package is going to move very quickly once the FedEx office opens in the morning. (I would imagine there are quite a few flights out of China toward the USA filled with stuff everybody buys.) Remember it is Tomorrow in Shanghai, in relation to North America and FedEx will not deliver (but I believe they do move packages) on the weekend. And this Monday is a Holiday in the US.
Good luck to all and may the race begin.

Re: *OFFICIAL: HP dm4t Owners Lounge!*
I ordered my HP dm4t via Bing shopping. It showed 10% cash back and routed my IE web page to HP shopping website. I made the purchase and submitted the order w/o applying any coupons. But I have not received email from Bing about 10% cash back. How long it takes to receive the email after the order has been submitted?
