I would say most likely, as the SP9300 uses more power. I am thinking the G105 would as well as it has its own memory. How much it effects the battery like really remains to be seen but I will say that it will be a sizable difference compared to say the base model Pentium which IIRC has a 10 watt TDP. I know there are other things to measure power consumption besides TDP but you get the idea. I would still say pull the trigger on the high end Intel one. It all depends on how important battery life is to you. They are saying 10 hours on the base model dm3t apparently, so I would say worst case scenario on the high end one you would get 5 or 6.

on the specs for the sp I think I read it uses 22watts as opposed to the 10 of the su and the 18 of the neo, so with the higher end intel you might be looking at closer to the 6 hour batter life maybe.

as far as the graphics go, the g105 is slower than the ati 4330 but not by a ton, a couple hundred less on 3dmark 05 and 06 iirc.

processor wise, everything I read(bencmarks and specs) was showing to me indication that the intel su7300 was a decent bit better in power than the neo x2.

I decided to go with the su7300/g105m as I think it will perform a little better or the same with better battery.

HP issued a general expection of 6 hours with discrete GPU.. and 10 hours with integrated GPU.

I would assume this would mean 10 hours only for the Intel with integrated 4500. The Intel with the G105 will probably only run at 6 hours too.. given the more powerful processor and seperate GPU.

so that means with the discrete gpu, the battery life between the 2 types will be like the same? :/ kinda feel lied too, I assumed that the intel has switchable graphics like the ati or something like that to claim the 10 hours.

My educated guess at battery life is this:

SU4100/SU7300 w/ 4500MHD:
~10 Hours

AND Neo w/ ATI:
~6 Hours

SU4100/SU7300 w/ NVIDIA:
~7 Hours

SP9300 w/ NVIDIA:
~5 Hours

Saw the dm3 online and at least you have a choice of AMD or Intel. I was wishing it had a touch screen because I think it's the way of the future. With all the options I wanted it came close to 1K! Will wait awhile 'till the prices comes down. The Envy's looks nice too but again it's very expensive.

So, Ive read numerous post saying that the AMD version of DM3 has switchable graphics if you go with discrete graphics. Thats mainly what made me go with the Ati 4330.

Anyone have a official link to it saying that, though.

I spent last 30mins reading the service manual linked in the other thread ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01893277.pdf ). If I see correctly, power supply plug seems compatible with dv5 (and dv7, dv6) and business models?

This would be welcome news to me, since I have couple HP business laptops and one dv5 already. Less worrying with power supplies.

As far as I remember dv2 had different power plug when I looked it in local shop, it looked like ones used in dv6000- and dv9000-series.
