On any account, I wouldn't put too much stock on it if that's your plan.

A company other than HP isn't going to offer a battery for it... especially if HP themselves aren't making it.
If there is a market for it , someone will offer it. the battey that comes with it is enough for me. I don't need more than 2-3 hours of power anyway.

14.0" certainly isn't that much bigger. Also the fact the UL80VT still maintains an ODD while still being relatively slimline is pretty impressive. The UL80VT in Australia is actually cheaper than the base DM3 available at the moment (SU7300/X4500 combo, so it does make thigns interesting)

Certainly in realworld browsing you won't get 12hrs with the UL80VT. Anandtech said it does just under 9 hours, which if i'm not mistaken, is on par with the DM3. Also, the Probook 5310m with the SP9300 and X4500MHD gets close to 6hrs with a 4-cell translating to 9 with a 6-cell even with the 25W TDP CPU. I think it's not until we see true reviews of the SP9300/G105M version should we really be talking 12 cell batteries!

I'm actually interested in both, however my choices are between the base UL80VT (SU7300/G210M - X4500) and the topline DM3 (SP9300, G105M w/ 160GB SSD). Both are the same price for me.

Ya well, that's my point, it's already got outstanding battery life. If they were going to offer even more, they would have. Case in point the Envy series with their slices, the DV4 with the 12-cell, or the DV3 with it's 9-cell. They won't be releasing an extended battery for the DM3, you can bank that.

I know the difference between the Athlon NEO X2 and the Turion NEO X2 is the 512KB versus the 1MB cache on the chip. How does this effect CPU performance? Will I notice a difference? I am trying to decide if it is worth the $50 extra. Has anyone done CPU benchmarks between the two? Thanks

Hi I received my dm3-1020ea direct from HP today.

Unfortunately I have the keyboard flex as seen in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=152NL...eature=related(which I believe was made by another member).

When I press down on the bottom edge of the keyboard tray, there is a snapping or popping sound - looks to me like it just isn't fitting correctly.

This sort of issue annoys me since I have seen display models which have very well fitted keyboards, but luck would have it that mine seems faulty.

My question is should I put up with this? Would you send this back for an exchange?

Many thanks!

I would send it for an exchange, actually since you got it from HP, see if they RMA you a new keyboard. Its not too hard to replace the keyboard. I think its better than sending your system back in, waiting for them to fix it, and them sending it back.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will ask them to just replace it (rather than repair it).

I shall phone them tomorrow and see how I get on.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue and if you managed to fix it yourself or if you exchanged your unit?

Many thanks.

The issue is related to bad assembly. I purchased my dm3 second hand. After a little research i found that the clips that secure the keyboard to the laptop it self were improperly inserted. Its an easy fix really.

Hi
I have a dm3 1030ea which has 2 x 2GB RA but the max. capacity is apprently 8GB.
Can I insert a 4GB RAM stick and use it together with one of the current 2GB sticks or do both need to be either 2GB or 4GB ?
Thank you.

You can use 4gb + 2gb in the same machine. As long as it is the speed/latency match on the sticks you shouldn't have a problem.
