I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on one, a $400 discount is very nice, can config one with higher cpu and better gpu for no charge
I'm just uncomfortable buying without any review yet, because my relatives in US will have to get it, then I gotta pick it up and bring it back to canada, so return isn't an easy option here.

If you're worried, I'd stick with the dv4t series. If you search a bit in the dv4t official thread, you'll see cons outweigh the pros comparing the 3t with the 4t. I'd say if battery life if important, an extra .2 pounds and a 1" increase in screen size with a 12 cell battery (dv4t) is better than the same price with a 9 cell and slightly more portability (dv3t). Just my thoughts.

Yeah, tell it to my gf once a woman is set on something, forget about changing her mind, lol. 13'' is what she wants and all she cares about is the size and the color, lol, I gotta make sure everythig else is ok and is working ok.

Where is the backlit keyboard? I don't see it on the model, both black or white. And people have said they had the option like a week ago.

Maybe they ran out of stock and demand was too high (like the Dell Studio 1555 GPU), and will come back soon.

What do you think?

I still say the dv4t is a good choice though, because you get a better battery for literally the same price.

The dv3t is great if you need portability and CPU/GPU performance, since it comes with the same top-end options as the dv4t at a smaller size. The dv4t does offer a few other features, but I don't need those for the size/weight that the dv3t gives me.

I'm waiting to pull the trigger on a white dv3t, once HP offers those new CPU options Intel introduced in February. I'm looking at either a 3.06GHz T9900 or a 2.8GHz P9700. My gut feeling says a 3.06 dual-core should give better performance than a Q9000. (The Q9100 and QX9300 HP offers for the HDX18 are a ripoff)

I know the dv3t doesn't take the 12-cell, but two 9-cells will beat that by hours, and if I need more juice I can always throw in a 3rd battery in a 13" case - no big deal.

It's kinda weird. The DV3Z starts at 4.35lbs but the DV3T starts at 4.95lbs. That's half pound of difference! I wonder if this is down to the slot-loaded drive available on the Z model. Can anyone explain?

Different system board and heatsink if you ask me - z and t models rarely share the same internals, so the components can add up to a weight difference.
