mute button fixed on dv5-1124ca !!
All right!
I made those last 2 posts so i could have 10 posts and insert links.
First of all , i have a amd based notebook , so i first found this article with drivers listed :
http://www.notebookdatabase.com/2008...sed-notebooks/
So i was first installing this version of the IDT audio drivers (as suggested in article) :
http://rapidshare.com/files/14311806...t_ses.rar.html
It was installing , but getting an error along the way, but it worked. So stacsv.exe was running , but not reacting to registry changes.
I tried installing the IDT drivers from sp41398.exe , which just wouldn't start stacsv.exe at all.
So i decided to merge the 2 , i took the drivers included in the 1040et_ses.rar and i used the WDM folder from the sp41398 and it now installed without any errors. The stacsv.exe included in sp41398 is newer then the one in 1040et_ses.rar, which made sense for me to use since it was the one mucha referred to , and was newer then the one in 1040 that wasn't working.
It turns out that the stacsv from 1040 was at fault, because now when i add the keys posted by muchas the mute button works perfectly. Those keys (along with many more related to IDT audio ) can be found in your vista registry. With the MuteGPIOIndicator key being in a slightly difference place on vista.
So now my remote works , mute button works , and i'm on sp2 , no QLB because if installed i lose some functionnality on my remote. Last thing in this current setup is that my wifi button does not respond , i have to turn on or off from the network connections, but at least it displays the correct state. I don't want to install quicklaunch buttons and lose some keys on my remote. Hopefully we can figure out where in the registry we can activate that button, or is qlb our only option..
On a last note, now that my remote works, i am wondering if anyone has any idea where i could change the key assignement? For instance the "green button" sends alt+enter (according to VLC) and the DVD key sends ctrl+v. The stop button sends "media stop" key "media play pause" and so on for a few "media" keys. Any idea if we can change these keys in the registry? Has my remote has a few keys that are assigned to "unset" , they respond but are unset , and i would like to set those.
Good luck , and orange mute and remote is definitely possible on dv5-1000 series notebooks!
ps: make sure you enter the key in CurrentControlSet\Control and not ControlSet001 or 002
my controlset key on a dv5-1124ca is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0015\
I have included my complete keys for my ControlSet and my software\IDT folder, if anyone was interested in seeing them.
Thank you very much muchas for showing us the way! Now time to figure out wifi button without QLB!

Re: windows xp on dv5t - all drivers installed
xyzabcxx : it is very possible that your device doesn't have the same class number has mine. Is this post of the reg the file you created, and it just happens to be at the place in the registry? Did you search for "allowhp" and find the correct instance in CURRENTCONTROLSET ?
Maybe you can dump your entire hklm\system\currentcontrolset\control and post it as an attachement , so i can look at it for you.
my stacsv.exe file is dated 2008-9-11 and is 233kb.
seems i forgot to attach files last time:

Re: windows xp on dv5t - all drivers installed
Hmm... I just downloaded and installed sp41398. No problem with the installation except after restarting, stacsv.exe is not started.
Can you tell me what driver version is the "IDT High definition Audio CODEC"?
Mine is 5.10.6087.0

Re: windows xp on dv5t - all drivers installed
My IDT Audio Codec is also : 5.10.6087.0
I have uploaded the exact package i use to install the audio (a merge between 2 driver sets i found around the web) It uses 1040et_ses.rar for audio codec and sp41398 for stacsv.exe (WDM folder)
here is the package for idt audio drivers :
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mht2nj32dgz
xyzabxx : what is your exact model number for dv5?
edit: nvm found your model in another post , cant seem to find product specifications for that model though .. try those drivers and the registry keys, works for me every time.Last edited by Roamin; 23rd December 2008 at 05:39 PM. Reason: model number

Re: windows xp on dv5t - all drivers installed
Roamin, many thanks for your help, the mute light issue is solved. Your modified IDT package is exactly the same as mine, so not too sure why mine didn't work initially.
Not to forget muchas for the reg file
