    Yeah, the mute light is a known bug for Windows XP.

    For the sound driver, go into the "drivers" and then "audio" folder of SWSETUP
    That should work

    ok.. too bad on the mute light
    Will try it tonight when i get home from work but i vaguely remember i installed the IDT driver from this foler.
    Any idea what could be the "unknown device"?

    xyzabcxx if you right click the unknown device and select properties it should give you a clue as to what it is. One that seems common is the HPQ004 device which is the HP Accelerometer / HP 3D DriveGuard.

    what i exactly meant to say was.... whatever SATA drivers u ve given.. ll they work for my dv5 1015tx....???

    and if not.... plz do me a favor by providing me the correct sata drivers link !!

    Sorry xyzabcxx I should have explained a bit more thoroughly, you need to look under the 'detail' tab of the properties dialog box and select 'Device Instance Id', which is probably default anyway. You should then have something in the text box below if not try 'Hardware Ids'.

    Hardware ID
    *ENE0100

    That is what is shown there.

    Ok that's the infrared receiver, if there isn't a driver on this thread maybe you could try this one.

    Yes those SATA drivers will work but it might blow your laptop up.
