    guys i just realized the base cpu on the envy 15 is a dual core i5, what if hp is waiting for dual core ivy i5s to be released first so then they can release the envy lineup? does that make sense? lol

    We can now confirm that HP is working on an Ivy Bridge version of the ENVY 15, and it will be available very soon. You guys have already found out most of the details:

    ENVY 15-32XX (ENVY 15-3200 series)

    New SKUs:

    Code:
    SysId02=0x1851
    SysName02=HP ENVY 15
    Changes from the ENVY 15-30XX:

    Based on the documentation, there is some speculation that the ENVY 15-32XX may be offered with an optional upgrade to the AMD Radeon HD 7850M. However, I think this is only reserved for the ENVY 17-32XX series. Although, it may be possible to put an ENVY 17-32XX motherboard into an ENVY 15-32XX chassis and vice versa.

    Kind of soon, isn't it? Are they going to allow pre-orders end of June, or actual orders?

    Woops...actually the release date is not confirmed. Sorry about that - I had edited my post above to clarify this.

    I also updated the thread title to attract more discussion into this thread.

    7850M would make the Envy 15 a major force to reckon with on the notebook market, and if the IPS screen were replaced with a Radiance-quality screen with no major color issues, it would be unbeatable in its class.
    Old - Inspiron 1420 - T7500, 8400M GS, 3GB DDR2, 250GB 5400 RPM, Win 7 HP 64
    "Manny Calavera" - Envy 14 - i5-450m, 5650M, 8GB DDR3, 160GB Intel X-25M SSD, Win 7 HP x64, Radiance Display, Slice Battery
    Desktop - i5-3450, MSI Radeon HD7850 Hawk, 8 GB Kingston HyperX Blue, 128GB Samsung 830 SSD, 2TB WD Caviar Green HDD, CoolerMaster Elite 120 ITX case, AsRock H77M-ITX, CoolerMaster Silent M2 420W, Samsung Blu-Ray reader

    Huh? Isn't the previous IPS screen a "radiance" display?

    Or is the current display inferior to the Envy 14's (1st generation)?

    i dont think anything else would be in its league in performance and screen besides legit thick gaming laptops (like clevo/sagers )

    I really hope they get that part right, even though I decided today to hold off on upgrading. I'll be keeping a close eye out to see whether they've fixed this issue. Even if they decide not to offer panel replacements for current owners, the least they can do is get it right the second time around.
