NOW AVAILABLE: ENVY 15-32XX Intel Ivy Bridge (AMD 7750M)

I had the opportunity to check out the 3xxx series envy 15 today at the store. The build quality feels very nice. Can anyone comment on the amount of metal used on the body compared to the 1xxx series, or envy 14 (old edition)?

I believe the 1xxx and envy 13 are nearly all aluminum bodies, while the old envy 14 is only partially aluminum.

Touchpad on the 3xxx seemed a bit better, but obviously no software to check it out on past IE.

My understanding is that the casing of the envy 15-1XXX models is made entirely of a magnesium alloy, no aluminum at all. Only the screen bezel, the four rubber feet and the hinge connecting the screen are not made of metal. Not sure what material was used to make the touchpad.

Aluminum, Magnesium, same idea. I assume the alloy has a ton of aluminum in it anyway.

The 2012 Envy 15 and 17 are all metal... even the protruding feet on bottom are metal as they are integrated into the bottom. What is nice is that the bottom is easy to remove without unsrrwing any screws. The top is labeled as magnesium alloy, but it is mostly alluminum. It is very very nice. I have a 17 3D and a 17.

amd is releasing their new apus soon i think may 15. hopefully info about notebooks with radeon cards will be released also. the only notebook that ik that has radeon cards right now is the inspiron 15r se with 7730m. hopefully there will be a flood of radeon card laptops

i've extended my 21-day shipping return policy another 21 days after around may 21st lol so i have until the second week of june to decide if im gonna keep my current envy or wait for the upgrade.. but damn that was a lot of work to make that happen

Obviously, the aesthetics can't hold a candle to the envy, but what about the internals? 2gb 7970m!
