Re: Upcoming ENVY 15 feat. IVY BRIDGE and AMD HD 7750M 1GB
7750m is based on the desktop radeon 7700
7690m xt is based on the desktop radeon 6600
thats enough comparison to conclude that the 7750m is by far superior, definitely more than 30%.
take a look here to get some official amd specs on the 7700m/7800m/7900m: AMD Radeon? HD 7000M Series Graphics
also quite interesting for those comparing the 600m to the 7970m w/ benchmarks: 7970m in a M15x....Why yes
& AMD 7970m vs GTX 680m
7970m inside an envy would be...Last edited by necrophyte; 24th April 2012 at 11:09 PM.

Re: Upcoming ENVY 15 feat. IVY BRIDGE and AMD HD 7750M 1GB
Absolutely, a 7750, 7770, even the 7730 would be awesome for the E15, more than enough to run demanding games at 1080p. And the 7800 series does not draw that much more power than the 7700 series.
Plus it is my understanding that all of these cards have a hardware acceleration feature for Partially Resident Textures, for games like RAGE, DOOM 4 and others in the future using megatexture tech.

Re: Upcoming ENVY 15 feat. IVY BRIDGE and AMD HD 7750M 1GB
That would be nice but unless they remove the disc drive it probably wont get smaller. With the current cooling system (which is a beast on any surface) in the envy 15 they should put a 78xx gpu in there with the next refresh. Ivy Bridge should run cooler than SB and my envy didnt go above 70C on the gpu and 75C on the cpu when completely stressed unless i overclocked it.
There should be plenty of cooling for a better gpu instead of a supposid ultrabook(ish) gpu that will run at a max core temp of 65C....
Unlikely though with all the places who supposibly will have the HM76/7750m 1gb envy 15MB.Last edited by Genoskia; 25th April 2012 at 02:13 PM.

Re: Upcoming ENVY 15 feat. IVY BRIDGE and AMD HD 7750M 1GB
yeah they gotta go one route or the other. keep the chassis the same and put in 78xxms or make it slimmer and go for 77xxms. it will be kinda dissappointing if hp puts in just the 77xxms in the chassis right now since it could be so much better. btw is it possible to change the gpu even if its soldered on? like ik its really hard but do you think it would be doable?
