Just out of curiosity, is it possible to make the Beats Audio button open a program other than the Beats Audio Controller? Other than the few who are extremely invested in audio quality, most people will open that program once, change it to optimal settings, and never open that program again. It would be cool to have that button open up something else, like the Radeon Catalyst Control Center, or open up your default web browser.

No problem, I don't want to get you in trouble. I technically have the files, but I would need to install everything from the recovery image which would be a pain.

Do you think you could maybe at least list the names of the files in that folder? I just want to see if there are any items I forgot to install. For instance, I got the proximity sensors working thanks to you, but I am not sure if there is a program for ambient light sensing as well.

Hey guys just got my envy today and man I'm loving this thing. not only does it look great, but it runs great too. I have a quick question though. I heard the battery isn't removable. For someone using this computer as a desktop replacement for a few months, I would normally remove the battery (storing it at 40% charge in a good location) and then just use the AC power. However, if I can't remove the battery, whats the best way to conserve battery power?

Should i just keep it at 100% charged using the ac power or would be it be better to let the laptop drop to 10% or 40% and then charge it back up to full again?

    thanks

Here is some overclocking observations for envy 15

    Used MSI afterburner
    7960m base 600/800 (gpu/memory) 3dmark06 at 9400
    7960m oc 720/900

Gives about a 10% improvement in wow, skyrim and others. The performance is practically the same as the 6750m before overclock and 6770m after overclock.
    Currently in use: T400, T410, T410s, x220, Dv6t A8, P150hm (6970m), Macbook Pro 15 2007, 2011, Macbook Pro 13 2009, Envy 15 2011.

After overclocking does the laptop get hotter or does the battery drain faster?

OC was done with power supply only. The envy 15 did get a bit warmer not much. Fans remain on the same speed.

The beats stuff should be with the audio driver. I installed mostly everything and it doesn't launch anything when I press in the beats wheel.

Any idea how the witcher 2 runs on the 7690?
It's quite a demanding games, a bit more than skyrim...

    You can definitely go higher.
I OC'ed mine to 780/950, got 11,004 3Dmark06. And the max temp on the GPU was only 66F! That's incredible cooling, gotta give it up.

Also make sure to switch the graphics mode to "switchable" in bios.
Stock clock in dynamic only got 8100, but switching to switchable and forcing it into discrete only increased my score to 9100. That 10% loss in performance puzzles me. Can anyone else confirm this?
Somehow being in "dynamic" impacts performance by about 10%.
