Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
I had this set up in another laptop, and I couldn't find a happy medium for storing stuff. I don't have a ton of stuff I need space for so I found myself trying to cram everything in the ssd. I'm due to order a new laptop in a week or two and it'll most likely be an Envy 17 3D, at which point i'll sell my 128gb M4 ssd and buy a 256Gb ssd so I dont have to choose where to store stuff

I do realize that many people have hundreds of gigs of music and movies, so a larger ssd probably isn't a viable option. just my thoughts on that.
p.s.: I'd pick up an Envy 15, but I'll be using it for some gaming, so I wanted the better gpu.

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
Thats why Im keeping hte HDD for mass storage, ie movies (there will be quite a few) pics (again a good bit) and music, other misc things like games and such
Im prob overspending on the 128gb SSD as it is, since Im only putting Windows on there and a few other everyday programs. I bet I could do with just 60gb

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
from what Im gathering on the net, you SHOULD, but you dont have to. I personally am going to go ahead and get a caddy, they arent that expensive and its prob worth it in a laptop like this, just to be safe.
I have been told you need a SATA to Slimline SATA adapter too, since most optical drives come in slimline sata.
again, dont take my word, Im asking questions too and havent done it yet.... but I will keep you posted (and may make a separate thread for this)

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
I already sold my other notebook (with GTX570M) to get a smaller laptop. So i'm deciding between this and the Samsung Series 7. They're almost identical in specs. But the one thing that bothered me about the SS7 is the fixed gfx switching. Some ppl had problems with it staying fixed on ATI or Intel gfx.
Does the ENVY15 have this issue?
