Cooling is excellent. As for gpu selection, its fine. the games that have problems are the ones that optimus also has problems with.

wifi wise, the envy has the ultimate 6300 which (i believe) is one of the best cards out there. so u should be fine in that aspect

reliabilty/durability wise, if u get a good machine with no flaws i can see it lasting a while, its not cheap plastic that will warp or break or tear. u might get dings on the metal body but it shouldnt affect performance. as for service, i cant say much about international, but when i had to get the screen replaced (came with a couple dead pixels) i bought inhome+ accidental so the guy sent over a person next day and it was replaced. as for accidental i asked the guy what that meant and basically if we do anything with the comp they will repair/replace (unless its hardware damage like melting the MB) then they will charge for that.

I love the screen, the color issue has been fixed, maybe the old gen 1080p xps screen stood a chance but not anymore, that being said, the screen is glossy (not super) but yes its possible to use it as a mirror when turned off. this is negated by the brightness if u turn it up but the glossynes can be annoying.

hope that helps! +rep doesnt hurt

im saying envy gets b/w 4-6 depending on ur settings and what you're doing with it, the samsung has a weaker card, lower res screen, not as nice speakers, and not as nice styling (personal opinion)

Hey everyone, I am new to the forums but I have been thinking about purchasing an HP Envy 15. They do not sell them in Canada that I can find, so I plan on buying one from B&H in the USA. I was wondering if anyone could confirm that I will have warranty in Canada even though the laptop is from the USA? (HP's Global Warranty)

My main concerns are with graphics and hard disk perfromance.. My envy 15 is with below config

    • 2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz
    • 1GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics(TM) [HDMI, DP]
    • 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive

Windows user experience score i got is 5.9 (both graphics and HDD got this minimum score)

Yesterday i tried to play sniper elite V2 with 1920*1080 resoultion and i felt a small lag in the game. Is this accepatable with my config? I will run the benchmark and post my score.. now am at work.. will post immediately after reaching home..

I also doubt this.. This product has a 2 year limitted warranty, not a global warranty.. so the chances are less.. I am from India and bought the lap from US.. I called the customer care here and they asked me to provide the serial number and bill details which i didnt have right now.. i have to call them agin with the details.. fingers crossed..
