Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
I just chatted with tech support about the red issue and he told me it is a hardware issue and no software can fix it, and to send it in and they will fix the problem. I said if you are going to replace the screen I don't think that will solve the problem because it seems everybody has the same problem. He didn't exactly say what they were going to do but he assured me the problem will be fixed. So we'll see.

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
No they said I would have to send it in. I'm not worried about shipping damages I'm sure it is covered. They shipped it to me and it was fine. However I have been trying to download the my display utility that they released to fix the problem and wasn't able to because it said page not found when I clicked download. That is why I contacted them to find out what was going on with it and he told me to send it in for repair. Well after I ended the chat I decided a few minutes ago to try downloading it again, lo and behold it worked. So I installed it tried it out and guess what, it actually solved the red issue for me. It seems it was a color temp problem. I set it for neutral white point and reds are now reds. So I guess I won't be sending it back after all.

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
Thank god after a lot of pain, finally the ebay seller refunded me and after i recieved an email from paypal confirming the refund i ordered the 3040nr (Quickship) with 1~2 Business day shipping from B&H Photo hopefully it will be here by friday...
Now anyone with the 750gb Momentus XT can they give me on how they perform when opening apps, rebooting and such? I'm deciding whether to get an 240gb SSD (Intel 520 series) <- Reliable sandforce controller + great warranty.

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
I'm noticing the exact same issue and just discovered what is triggering it...
The key that is being "mispressed" is definitely the "Super" key (Windows button between Ctrl and Alt) because certain letters correspond with the hotkey action of that after being pressed in combination with Super such as pressing the "E" key will open My Computer in Explorer, pressing the "R" key opens the Run dialog, and pressing the "W" key opens a window switcher.
The four-finger upward swipe multi-touch gesture that is enabled by default activates the "Aero" flip window selection animation, which uses the Super key + Tab to activate normally. When you activate the four-finger gesture, for whatever reason Windows still thinks that the Super key is being pressed, thus causing the error we're experiencing. The solution would be to either disable the Aero Flip window selector for the four-finger gesture in the Synaptics control panel or, if you really want to use that feature, just press the Super key twice after using the gesture to activate it and disable it. I'll report this problem to Synaptics and hopefully receive some feedback.
Be sure to let me know if anyone has this problem and if my solution worked!

I'm curious as to how they are planning on fixing this problem. While it's not a huge issue for me, but it's pretty glaring that the reds are very warm.

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
If it comes back fixed I will post it here. I doubt they will say what was actually done but the Rep sounded pretty sure that the problem would no longer exsist so I am assuming they will be replacing the screen with a new and improved model, again assuming it comes back fixed.

Re: *HP ENVY 15 (3XXX series) Owners Lounge*
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I think the likelihood of this is pretty low. A tier 1 CSR is not likely to be privy to a major hardware change. It's far more likely that they think it's just a simple hardware issue that can be resolved normally. They might even switch out the screen...for an identical screen. I'll be tickled if it is the case, but I'm not holding my breath.
Given that we already have word of the part numbers for the Ivy Bridge motherboard, I think someone would have gotten wind of a new Envy 15 screen SKU.
