Almost sounds like a coolsense issue, but I don't really see why this would be happening. Try running with coolsense off.

Sometimes when Im playing SWTOR, and the laptop is running warm/hot... if I move it at all, be it shifting on my lap, or sliding a table its sitting on, the entire laptop slows to a crawl.. prob moving at about 1 fram every 3 seconds, and this lasts about 3 minutes or so before it catches back up gradually...

The RAM shoots up to about 80% used while this is happening too, then goes back down after the 3 minutes.

Cause for this? It only happens when its running on the hot side, and only happens when its moved.
Its a driver issue, AMD 12.03 RC fixes it. It will also happened for other games as well.
    Currently in use: T400, T410, T410s, x220, Dv6t A8, P150hm (6970m), Macbook Pro 15 2007, 2011, Macbook Pro 13 2009, Envy 15 2011.

I guess I just dont see how a software or driver issue can be caused when the computer physically gets moved. Makes it seem physical, like a bad connection or something

Just saw that, unbelievably vague, but at least they're "acknowledging" it. That means if this tuning utility does not work, they'll be forced to accept returns since they've now nodded their heads in agreement it's not acceptable.

I am strongly considering buying this laptop but I wanted to ask owners:

    1) Is this laptop a good blend between mobility, price, and performance?

    2) Would you buy this laptop for a friend? (assuming you had the money)

    Thanks in advance.

He meant 12.3, not 12.03. The official AMD drivers are currently on 12.2.

The 12.3 RC can be found here

    1. That depends on what your priorities are. This is considered a "premium" laptop. If you're just looking for the best value, then HP's own DV series offers more bang for the buck (as well as a lot of others, like the Lenovo Y570). There's a price to pay for the better materials and thinner profile of the Envy. You can get a machine with the same (or better) specs as a top of the line Envy for hundreds less.

    2. Yes. I think pretty much any friend would appreciate a free laptop. Especially one this nice.

you know i wouldnt be surprised if HP are "fixing" the lcd issue because ivy bridge was delayed, hence they need to keep this model selling that little bit longer. they're not fixing this to help the consumer, if they were, they a) wouldnt have used a shi7 screen in the first place, b) would have paid attention to all the returns c) put out a Google Page Ranking way before now.
